The Transcaucasian region is located in the border of the Europe and the Asia, being rich in many resources, especially in oil and gas reserves. This area is also the important strategic channel and transport corridor. Because of historical reasons, Russia and the transcaucasian countries closely tied to each other in politics, economy, culture and national interests. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the three former soviet republics-Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia have declared independence. Because of the influence of domestic political, economic and diplomatic strategy, the relations between Russia and the transcaucasian republics present different development trends. Today the situation of the transcaucasian region is very delicate, all of the three countries are troubled by the activity of the local separatism, and the conflicts are on the verge of breaking out. In addition, in recent years, the other countries, like USA. EU, Turkey and Iran, which are coveting the resources of the transcaucasian region, intensify the efforts to penetrate every area of the region. Russia is still the most important country in the transcaucasian region, but its influence has been challenged by the other countries and organizations. For Russia, the national interests in this region are not only the resources and the geostrategic location, but also that the anti-Russian forces have already threatened the safety and territorial integrity of Russia. Therefore the Russian government will adjust and formulate the foreign policy towards the three trancaucasian republics, and the development of the relationships between them will entered a new period. This study tries to analyze the relationships between Russia and the three trancaucasian republics, through a geopolitic perspective, based on the systematical combing and analyze the natural and geopolitic status of Transcaucasia, the history and status of the relationships between Russia and the three trancaucasian republics, and the influence factors of the process of these relationships.
