Otfried Hoffe is a famous philosopher and jurist in contemporary Germany. Based on discussions on the philosophies of the great thinkers Aristotle and Kant, his moral philosophy takes social phenomena into consideration and he carries out philosophical research. He puts forward his unique perspectives and therories. Otfried Hoffe accomplishes a lot in this respect and has had a great impact.Otfried Hoffe himself and his philosophical thinking have caught more and more attention in the Chinese academic world. However, not enough research has been done on his achievement on moral philosophy in China. This article is just based on analysis of his works and essays and has probed into his moral philosophy. In addition, this article also serves the purpose of giving some brief introductions of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophical thinking to other researchers at home.Moral is closely linked with happiness, which are also the two greatest concerns of Ethics. Otfried Hoffe first researches into the concepts of moral and happiness and puts forward his unique perspectives on the relationship of the two. He emphasizes on the complementary nature of moral and happiness and concludes that a happy life means a life in line with moral principles.Besides introductions on the main concepts and thinking of the moral philosophy of Otfried Hoffe, this article also elaborats Otfried Hoffe's theories of happiness, freedom and self-discipline in aspects of happiness theory, the concept of freedom, moral freedom, behavior freedom, will freedom, cultivation of individual moral, self-disciplinary moral, the art of living etc and points out the moral philosophical significance of his theories.By using writing modes narration, comparison, analysis and comment all combined together, the article's first three chapters are focused on revealing the logical path of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophy, and occasionally there will be analysis and comment involved. By contrast and comment, the fourth chapter compares the moral philosophy of Otfried Hoffe, the happiness theory of Aristotle and self-disciplinary Ethics of Kant and reveals the uniqueness of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophy and its contributions to the development of moral philosophy. Chapter four also concludes the theological and realistic significance of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophy. The article strives to have an accurate appreciation of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophy, It has praised its achievement, while it has also pointed out the theory's imperfection. It is hoped that this article could attract valuable comments from other researchers and promote people's understanding of Otfried Hoffe's moral philosophy, the development of the moral philosophy research and the undertaking of spiritual civilization at home.
