Tang In Tang Song Impact Studies

The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of the glorious and middle Tang Dynasty's poetry on Songci. This paper is divided into two parts: the first part is concentrated on Wang Wei, Li Bai and Du Fu those who influenced Songci most significantly; the second part is concentrated on how much Han Yu, Bai Juyi and Liu Yuxi influenced Songci.Wang Wei, famous for his poetry about mountains, waters and fields, was recognized as a"master of painting"for those authors of Songci. Because the mental impression they appreciated the beautiful scenery like transparent stream and the Zen sense from his poetry. Besides of those poems, his series of the"Wangchuan poetry","Ningbi poetry", farewell poetry also had good influence on Songci.Li Bai is well known as a poet with unconstrained and free characteristics, whose image itself was the model to disdain the authority and rich as well as to pursue freedom. Overall, his most influential poetry on Songci are not those unconstrained ones but his little charming poems about"women and wine". In addition, his poetry of chanting moon, homesickness and ancient history were also learned significantly by Songci.Du fu influenced Songci in every aspect such as words, sentences, images, artistic conception, subject and style. Nearly half of the poetry in his anthology are imitated by Songci, so he is the most important poet of the Tang Dynasty to affect on Songci."Demotion experience"and"sentimental emotion"are the most precious treasure the poetry of the Middle Tang Dynasty presented to Songci who would always learn from the former ones in some similar subjects. Han Yu's famous poetry with queer and abrupt style, which are about true life experience while he changed his official position, were easier to accepted and inherited by Songci. Other wise, his discipline of"writing poetry in the method of writing verse"influenced significantly to the poetic school of Su Shi and Xin Qiji.Bai Juyi also had the impression of"Demotion"and"sentimentalism". His sentimental poetry such as Chang Hen Ge and Pi Pa Yin Bing Xu influenced Songci a lot. On the other hand, his life with optimistic and smooth experience, his pleasure of chanting poetry with friends and having fun with women, as well as his"leisure poetry"helped Songci portrait and represent the mortal enjoyment.Liu Yuxi's prominent influence on Songci comes from his two pieces of poetry on chanting peach blossom which is associated closely by his demotion life. However, his sentimental and historical poetry affected Songci in some distance. Because people after him had misunderstood his poetry, this kind of"mistake"enhanced his influence conversely.This paper was originally prepared to be titled as the influence of the Tang Dynasty's poetry on Songci, in which I would discuss the influence of four periods in Tang Dynasty perfectly. But I would finish this magnificent project when I have adequate time and mature thinking in the future because of the restriction in time, energy and length of my paper. Meanwhile the influence of the Beginning Tang Dynasty's poetry is not as important as the other three periods, and several academic problems of the Late Tang Dynasty's poem are obstacles to the research. Therefore only six great poets during the Glorious and Middle Tang Dynasty are selected and discussed in this paper. Although there are more other poets in the other two periods, especially some excellent poets on whom I will study in the future. Explaination is hereby.
