Research On Influencing Factors Of The Concept Of Much And Few Number

Concept is the form of thinking to reflect things' the essence and common characteristics. Form concept and categorization is an important cognitive activity. Categorization is the formation and application process of category and concept. Categorization standard is criterion for judgment concept and categorization in the traditional research of classification. That is to say,the traditional research of categorization standard almost began with the perspective of the objective standard.In fact,categorization standard is subjective and affected by material features, background knowledge and previous knowledge.The present essay analyzed the variability of conceptual judgment over time and its influence factors. Interview and survey found "little time you think something is more which maybe becomes smaller when you grown up you " was a very common psychological phenomenon. The present essay speculated it was because the judgment threshold of much and few was changed,and this change maybe was leaded by the enhancement of people's information processing ability. The essay used questionnaire and a series of experiments to confirm the hypothesis. The present essay had a novel dissertation and high originality.It enriched the research content of categorization standard from the subjective aspect, and provided new avenues of the war between standard rules and similarity, and also provided a guidance to actual concept teaching.The essay included3studies and5experiments. Study1had a preliminary understanding of the trend of much and few concept over time through interview and questionnaire. Study2explored the effect of material complexity on much and few conceptual judgment which included two experiments.Experiment1and experiment2used different complexity material with different number range of materials (2to30and5to100) to explore their effect on much and few conceptual judgment. Study3 explored the influence factors of conceptual judgment which included three experiments.Experiment4and experiment5explored the influence of material shape on conceptual judgment over time,in case of the concept of much and few.Experiment6explored the influence of present window size on conceptual judgment over time,in case of the concept of much and few.The main results are elaborated as follows.1. Concept judgment over time will change, this is a kind of common psychological phenomenon.2. In the numbers of2to30, subjects' simple material judgment value significantly less than the value judgment of complex materials in few concept judgment value and the discrimination value of much and few. In the numbers of5to100, subjects' complex material judgment value significantly less than the value judgment of simple materials in the discrimination value of much and few.3. In the numbers of2to30, subjects' irregular materials judgment value significantly less than the value judgment of regular materials in four concept judgment values.4. The number range of materials,the properties of materials and the present condition of materials all had an influence on different gender subjects' judgment value of much and few concept.
