Communication is one of the important scopes of the basic theory of Marxism, which has comprehended the issue of communication on the height of the development in human history. Man's rational understanding of human interaction is modern product. However, as a basic way of existence, communication has been happening inherently. Communication has been one of the major factors to deduce social structure changes, even a determinant. The frequent communication and close connection between ethnic groups promotes the development of productive forces greatly. The further development of general intercourse of the world boosts the integration between different ethnic groups, the development of ethnic productivity, the division of labor and internal exchanges. The intercourse between different ethnic groups is expanding globally, with its social structure has some universal features of the human society. Based on the historical pattern of ethnic interaction and practical features, this paper takes Marxist theory as the guidance, stating the multidimensional features of the ethnic exchanges.The ethnic contact is a kind of social phenomenon as well as a social process inevitably experienced during the survival and development of the nation. At the same time, it is a process of acculturation, in which the social symbiosis is achieved. Therefore, both the acculturation theory and the symbiosis theory provide very valuable frame of reference. Besides, the process of the ethnic contact is also the important content of ethnic relations in the whole process of the national community change and progress. This paper investigates the forms of ethnic contact from the perspective of history and reality, gains the large amount of firsthand field data in the actual life going deep into the ethnic association after having deep understanding of both the history and trends of ethnic contact. Thereafter, these data gained will be analyzed and sorted out before the conclusion it to reach. In addition, the ethnic contact will be summarized on the basis of studying both historical materials and first-hand information. Finally, practical matters and various factors affecting ethnic contact are investigated so that the practical path of its solution to build harmonious ethnic communication will be found.This paper is divided into seven parts. The first part is on the national theory of communication in the view of Marxist theory of communication--the Marxist view of communication and its contemporary significance, the concept of ethnic communication and the historical patterns. Chapter Two the quotation and expansion of the relevant theories—social symbiosis theory and cultural acculturation theory. The third chapter focuses on the history and the reality of our ethnic communication. Chapter Four offers cases related and analysis, mainly concerning ethnic contact. As the key, difficult and innovative part, the fifth chapter puts forward three epistemological dimensions of ethnic contact and each of them is discussed in detail. Chapter Six is cognition and analysis on the possible factors affecting our ethnic communication based on the first-hand information collected. From the thought of tuneful contact, the last part gives a clear explanation and construction of the necessity and path of harmonious ethnic communication.
