agricultural natural resources across Taiwan Strait Abstract: Along the broad area across the Taiwan Straits, one side is the southeastern region of Fujian province and another side is Taiwan island. They both had old-line tradition, close relations and got similar agricultural natural resources. But the agricultural production had in different groundwork~ application models and developmental state. So a lot of useful prosperous and fail experiences in Taiwan could be used for reference to the mainland agriculture. To the question about the reasonable use of natural agricultural resources and its production potential both in the southeastern region of Fujian province and Taiwan, many specialists (including Fujian and Taiwan) had achieved a great lot work in this field. But the comparative study on the production potential has not been got comprehensive and systemic in- depth conclusion. So, this paper, selecting the area in the southeast of Fujian province and Taiwan island across the Taiwan Straits, as a case study region, analyzes the present situation of the natural resources such as the land resources, agricultural climatic resources, water resources and biologic resources etc. Thereafter, supported by the GIS technique and applied the Lishikui model and AEZ model, the author first systematically discusses the different production potential including radiation production potential, thermal production potential, climate production potential, and land production potential etc. both to the main crops and cultivation system. According to the usage percentage in dissimilar production potential of the radiation & thermal, climate and land which are actualized on the different cultivation system, thc degrees in use of the diverse agricultural natural resources such as the radiation & thermal, agricultural climate and other types are also analyzed. Meanwhile, this paper practices the comparative study on the present situation of agricultural manufacture between the southeastern Fujian and Taiwan. The papcr contrasted the general situation of agriculture in the southeast Fujian with that in Taiwan, and analyzed on the comprehensive agricultural productivity and the advance of sciencc and technology on the agriculture in the southeastern Fujian. The author uses the advanced experience about the utilization of agricultural resources in Taiwan for reference and puts forward the countermeasures which aim at the reasonable use of agricultural resources, and can be used as the frame of reference on building the characteristic agricultural belt and realizing the agricultural sustainable development in the case area.
