The thesis is done under the international and domestic environments which more and more international trade disputes, China position in international trade has been raised, and there is a great deal of-conflict between China and other countries such as the United States, Japan, Europe, etc. It theoretical and positive research Japan-US trade friction from vertical and horizontal two angles of view. The thesis falls into seven chapters.Chapter One divides Japan-US trade friction into four types or four stages: microeconomic friction, macroeconomic friction, investment friction, institutional friction, according to causes they occurred in the different period. In examining the historical experience of Japan-US trade friction, writer think, with the changes of international economic environment from trade liberalization to economic globalization through capital liberalization and internationalization of production, the form of Japan-US trade friction shift from microeconomic friction to institutional friction through macroeconomic friction and invest friction. Especially in the 1990s, along with rapid development of globalization and informationization, the proportion of trade in services in GNP and international trade rise, so that Japan-US trade friction has shift from macroeconomic friction to institutional friction. Institutional friction has been key to diminish Japan-US trade friction.Chapter Two economics analyze the microeconomic friction between Japan and the United States. Section one analyze microeconomic friction among Japan-US different industries by examining the relations between trade friction and economics factors such as voluntary export restrictions, import,quantity,resfrictions,anti-dumping,countervailing,economicsanctio n. Section two, on the basis of comparing Japan-US industry policy and competition issues, positive analyze Japan-US trade friction on semiconductor in high-new tech field. Section three examine results and countermeasures against Japan-US microeconomic friction, taking VER as a example. The final section put forward new views on Japan-US microeconomic friction. Writer indicate, in recent years, international trade friction disputes that are caused by dumping and anti-dumping, vailing and countervailing increase, that is main because of imperfect international trade institution and trade protectionism. Therefore, how to normalizegoods trade rules and set up new services trade rules has become increasingly crucial to diminish international trade disputes. International trade institution construction is new problem after WTO.Chapter Three, first, economics analyze Japan-US macroeconomic friction from three markets and adjustment theoretical model of current account balance of payments, and then introduce Japan-US economists studies on macroeconomic friction, and on the basis, reconsider Japan-US macroeconomic friction studies. Writer indicate, their analysis are in the framework of Keynes national income and IS-LM-BP model, only are traditional economics application in the field of trade friction, and macroeconomic policy coordination did not attain ideal effect in the short run in 1985 after plaza agreement. This show, in addition to macroeconomic policy coordination and structural adjustment, there are other factors to diminish Japan-US macroeconomic friction. Alongside services trade increasing, it is important to investigate the institutional factors of macroeconomic friction after globalization and information development.Chapter Four, first, analyze Japan-US invest friction from economic angles of view, and second, introduce issues on Japan-US invest friction, and in the last, positive analyze Japan-US invest friction.
