With the development of globalization, the integration of markets and the coming of internet era, Chinese petrochemical industry is confronted with the great challenges. This essay discussed the development of petrol industry both aboard and in China, and studied the strategies of big foreign petrol corporations and the present state of Chinese petrochemical industry reform. On the basis of it, it brought forward the concept that Chinese petrochemical industry should take the global market strategy to meet the challenge of globalizationThe essay is composed of five parts.The first part argues the three basic characteristics of strategic resources and ten features of petrol as commodity. Petrol is a kind of resources commodity; it is not able to be regenerated and rare ;its production cost consists of 3 parts jcapital investments on petrol always purse monopolist profits; it is of uncertainty ;it is very close to economy growth ;it has substitute resources jmonopolistic competition is the main feature of its market structure ;it gets sunk cost and there is application of production capacity of OPEC.In this part it also discusses the establishment and development of petrol industry which was the process of competition among multinational corporations. It came into being in the end of 18cn and there was an excess of supply over demand in the end of the 1930s. After World War Two, a great amount of petrol was discovered in Middle-East Area and the world petrol center was shifted from Gulf of Mexico to Bosnia Gulf and America became the oil-importing nation. In 1960 ,OPEC was founded and demonstrated its great influence on world economy during the first (1973-1974) and the second (1979-1980) petrol crisis. In the period of Sea Gulf War (1990-1991) the third crisis occurred because of its over-supply and sustainable low price. Here was argued the causes of the fluctuation at high price in 1999 to 2000 and its effect on world economy, on oil-producing, oil-consuming, as well as oil-marketing countries, on members of OPEC and on Non-OPEC nations. Then a conclusion is drawn that the petrol era will not end in 30 to 50 years.The second part is mainly about the background of implementing the global market strategy in Chinese petrochemical industry. It presents the brief analyses on current energy state and the production as well as consumption of petrol and natural gas in China, energy demand and Green GDP in 21 en, effect of changes of energy structure, three giants in international petrol market (market economy countries in America and Europe, OPEC members and Non-OPEC nations), and distribution of countries both producing and marketing petrol and natural gas in the world.In part four this essay discusses the present state and problems of and challenges faced with Chinese petrochemical industry. Chinese petrochemical industry began at the end of 1950s , introduced the foreign advanced technology and equipments with the result of shrinking difference between China and developed nations in the 1970s, developed rapidly and ran into the leading place in the world in the 1980s ,and was reconstructed in the 1990s.China has been the petrol power within several years although there was still many problems and challenges.The fourth section introduces big foreign petrol corporations and their development strategies, which can be learned by our petrochemical enterprises. The essay summarizes the 14 global market strategies of these big corporations.The final part of the essay studies the development of our petrochemical enterprises in more than 50 years and present competition condition both abroad and in China. According to the author, petrochemical enterprises in China should speed up the global market strategy, greatly develop the petrol and natural gas energy on main land, set up the strategic oil reserve, accelerate the structural reforms of petrol price, enhance the reform of the petrochemical enterprises, improve the competitiveness of the petrochemical enterprises, and develop substitute resources or green re...
