Market competition being more and more intensive, the market competitive strategy ensures the enterprise continuous superiority. With the development of modern science and technology, packaging industry has shown its increasingly importance in global economy. Accordingly, the packaging materials regenerate rapidly, and therefore the market analysis and competitive strategy analysis for its enterprise is critical to packaging industry.This thesis introduces Porter's five competitive forces model and three primary competitive strategy categories. Due to various new products coming into market, especially, as far as the substitute products are concerned, it brings forward reasonable competitive strategy after analyzing the opportunities and threats in the market. Afterwards, the green product strategy is referred to as a suitable strategy for present packaging industry.This thesis also introduces the core competency that is the long-term guarantee of enterprises, and explains how to establish and develop core competency. It is emphasized that enterprise resources, advanced technologies and human resources, as well as enterprises alliance are valid approaches to enhance core competency. As for packaging industry, brand strategy and alliance strategy are all effective ways.Finally a vivid case shows the competitive strategy analysis for a new technological material stepping into packaging industry as a substitute product.
