The Opium War of 1840-42 is a turning point of Chinese history. After that war, the feudal society of China began to evolve into semi-feudal and semi-colonial society. As a result, the feudal economy of China gradually disaggregated after more than 2,000 years existing. This weakened the basement of the monarchism. Furthermore, accompanied with the capitalism intrusion, words like Democracy, Republic, and Parliament were introduced into China, which in the past were not even heard by the Chinese. The introducers are mainly old type government officials and intellectual elites who are full of patriotism. The bourgeoisie of China accepted these viewpoints, and parliamentarism became their political goal. China's political system stepped into a new but hard journey.This essay mainly concerns the period of late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China time, its contents are about the parliamentary thoughts and system's development in China. Both bourgeoisie parliamentary thoughts and its system's carrying out in China are passive ones. This is because of the lack of oneness in China's modernization. That is to say, the form of the government and its regime were not unified, therefore it was often demolished. This is what the essay going to lay stress on.The essay tries to clear up the outline of the prevalence of parliamentary thought, its 'actualization' and evolution. Another aim is to analyze the effect of the bourgeoisie parliamentary thoughts by using the historical materialistic method of Marxism, and draw out an impersonal and faire conclusion.The conclusions of this essay are like below. Chinese people warmly welcome it because it stands for their benefits. The political system of China has been developed and perfected all the time and all the way.
