The rapid development of Internet in the 1990's not only makes the human society enter the network ages, but also opens up the second living space of human society at the same time. Internet ushers human society life in a new epoch and new space, opens up new era and new space of socialistic ideology building as well. Under this great background, we ought to make a thorough study of the issue of "internet and socialistic ideology building". It is very important in theory and practice for us to seize the opportunities to create a new situation of socialistic ideology building, thus enhancing the cohesiveness and inspiring capacity of our party, government and whole Chinese nation; for us to take up challenges which internet has brought to socialistic ideology building, thus establishing socialistic ideology in an unassailable position in surging and scrambling of all kinds of ideologies; for us to develop with the times, thus constantly bringing forth new ideas in the theory and practice of scientific socialism, especially in the theory and practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Beginning with internet's function, essence and feature, closely integrating with the concrete behavior of the subject of network, especially the behavior of the mass of netizen, this dissertation emphatically analyzes the dual-impacts which Internet bringing to socialistic ideology building, probes into the characteristics, principles and ways of socialistic ideology building in network times, and puts forward four general plans about building socialistic ideology in cyberspace. The full dissertation includes preface, test (four chapters) and concluding remarks.Preface discusses basis and value of this selected issue, introduces and evaluates the present situation of this problem's research, clarifies the whole paper's key points, difficult points and creative point, and explains main research methods used in this dissertation.Chapter I gives a brief account of internet's essence, function and dual-features, as well as current development situation and the subject of China's network. There are three key points in this chapter: Firstly, thorough analyzing internet's essence, points out that internet is an aggregation of a whole set of IT installations and correlative technical specifications, at the same time, the new style of information and ideas exchange and the second living space of human. Secondly, thorough discussion of internet's dual-traits for the very first time, puts forward that internet is a unity of opposites, which is composes of five contrary arguments: distribution of technology and concentration in reality, unlimited information and limited knowledge in terms of net content, fictitiousness and reality of cyberspace, freedom and control of net disseminating, "living far away just like living next door" phenomenon and "livingnext door just like living far away" phenomenon in net communication. Thirdly, introduce the current development situation of China's Internet, especially analyzes the subjects of China's Internet and their behavior.Chapter II mainly analyzes the new opportunities and challenges that internet brings to socialistic ideology building. First of all, the thesis defines ideology, socialistic ideology and socialistic ideology building.
