This essay reviews Marx's theory of capital accumulation: its origination, main content and influences afterwards. By comparing Marx's theory of capital accumulation with Western theories of modem economic growth and observing the facts of capital accumulation in contemporary world, I try to recognize the general economic law of capital accumulation and its characters that vary with times.Whole the paper includes eight chapters. Except the introduction and the conclusion, there are three parts: Marx's theory of capital accumulation itself; the comparing between Marx's theory and Western ones; the observation of the capital accumulation in contemporary world. The later two parts can be regarded as a theoretical and a practical examination of Marx's theory. The purpose of this paper is to testify the basic principle of Marx's political economy, and to seek some enlightenment to instruct the present practice of the socialist market economy in our country.Main points: accumulation is a motion initiated from the nature of capital. Its tendency in long-term is determined by capital's internal contridiction. Capital accumulation can cause increasing of unemployment and ceasing of growth as the organic composition f capital has risen. Marx held that the capitalist system must be remoulded thoroughly to overcome its antagonism and historical limitation. Modem characters of capital accumulation are the increase of productivity result from the revolution of science and techonology, and the change of the social organic constitution of capital, which is embodied with devaluation of general capital goods and revaluation of the complicated labor.Basic conclution: on one hand, Marx's theory of capital accumulation is not out-of-date, but there are some new characters in the reality of today's capital accumulation on the other. Combining this two sides into one, it can be used to guide us to understand and deal with problems emerged from capital accumulation in economic growth.Something new: I try to expose Marx's theory of capital accumulation in its integrity; to compare Marx's theory of capital accumulation with the three Western models of modem economic growth; to connect the basic law of capital accumulation with its modem characters to approach the guiding principle which can be used to handle problems of capital accumulation in our country.
