As a crucial factor of production, the price of labor has important effect on that of production. And the price of labor is decided on its cost and the relation of supply and demand. As the developing of urbanization, more and more rural labor works in cities. So that we study on reproduction cost of rural labor can bring academic attestation to ascertain the price of labor rationally. From the point of view of human capital, reproduction cost of labor may be looked as investment in quality of child, and magnitude of investment will influence quality of manhood greatly. By analyzing on the gross and makeup of investment in rural child, we can correctly grasp complexion of quality of them. Furthermore, the course of fostering underage labor is that of bringing up child for a family, so quantity of cost of child directly connects with the demand of it, and thus it relates to the rate of bearing in society.Taking reproduction cost of rural labor as object, the paper analyzes change of it in 1983-2003, identifies some kinds of factors that affect on it, and gives economic answer. Meantime, concerning the background of urbanization, the paper expatiates on effect brought by change of reproduction cost of rural labor, and puts forward some piece of countermeasure, in order to improve the investment on rural child, and advance quality of rural population. The signality is it can remodel uncultured visage in country, lessen disparity between urban and country, and quicken planning them as a whole.The basic research conclusion of this paper is: Since the reform policy was carried out in country, the gross of reproduction cost of rural labor has greatly heightened. But it is lower when compared to that of townie. The proportion of maintenance to the total cost has decreased, but those of educational expenditure, medical expenditure and opportunity cost have ascended respectively, as a result, the way of fostering child has been optimized. In addition, the change of cost has engendered concernful effect on price of labor, human capital and rate of bearing in country. We find two reasons that cause lowness of price of rural labor: One is reproduction cost of them is too low; the other is that supply exceeds demand in labor market. Consequently the positivity of investment on human capital will be restrained, and it will impact on quality of labor negatively. Moreover, the increase of cost of child has promoted drop of rate of bearing. Therefore, for the sake of heightening value of labor and boosting up human capital, reproduction cost of rural labor should be enhanced. It will also conduce to play down rate of bearing in country, and the developing of economy and advance of society will come true ultimately.The characteristic of the paper consists in demonstrational analyse on reproduction cost of rural labor for twenty years since the reform in country. We study the change of the gross and structure of cost in detail, and find their developing trend. Furthermore, reproduction cost of labor, investment on human capital and expenditure of bearing child are unified in the paper, so there is connection amongworth of labor, human capital and rate of bearing. The kernel of them is reproduction cost of labor. These are the innovations of the paper.
