The measured data is the basis of management decision-making, and production control. Therefore the quality of those data is very important.However issues related to the measurement and measurement system analysis (MSA) have not draw enough attention.This paper based on Taguchi method will deal with how to combine the traditional MSA with Taguchi method to produce a new theory and method for MSA and new measurement method.The paper will cover two researches. One is comparison between traditional MSA and Taguchi measurement quality engineering, trying to result in the two methods complementary to each other.The other is a great deal of application research, and take the widely used digital signal as the research object. The application research will include three parts: research on the calibration of digital signal source, error analysis and the best calibration interval. For the time being, the calibration of measuring instrument must follow specifications issued by government authorities or professional institutions. The typical values of all parameters will be measured, including measurement uncertainty and error. This paper will apply the Taguchi method for the research of calibration application, thus deducing the calibration formula in the full measurement range by virtue of the typical values of the measured frequency, AM and FM of the digital signal source. The estimated values at any point within the range can be calculated by the formula, which greatly simplify the calibration of non-typical values.On the basis of Taguchi linear calibration formula, the research also discovered that the calibration accuracy could be improved by sectional or non-linear calibration formula in case of mean error measurement.
