In the complicated motive force system of social development , the social fundamental contradiction is the basic motive force . After the founding of the Republic of China , especially after the establishment of the social system , the misjudge of the main social contradiction had led to the error of the motive force theory of class struggle , and Chinese modernization went astray . Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee , correctly seizing on the main contradiction in the socialist primary stage , the party has reformed the productive relations and superstructure which had fettered the development of the productive forces , and has led Chinese modernization onto the correct path .
