Civilization is a historical category, and it is also the progress state of human society. It is the process and result of the function of the social law. Civilized behavior, civilized process and civilized fruits constitute the organic whole of civilization, which is the eternal subject of human progress.This dissertation considers that society can be categorized into the macro-society and the micro-society. The macro-society is a complex system which is composed of productive forces, productive relations, economic base and superstructure and is the unification of economics, politics, culture and micro-society. The micro-society is the corresponding society to economics, politics and culture. Its basic inscape is social life, social relations, social consciousness, social living circumstances and social administration and the former three is its core factors.In this sense, civilization can be categorized into social civilization of the broad sense or macro-social civilization and the social civilization of the narrow sense or micro-social civilization. Social civilization of the broad sense is a historical category and is the result of the progress of the whole society governed by the social law. Social civilization of the narrow sense (the following text will use the shortened form: social civilization) is also a historical category and is the progress state in the micro-social domain and is the process and result of the social law acting on the micro-social domain. Social civilization is the organic unification of social civilized behavior, civilized process and civilized fruits. It is the important component part of the civilization system of the socialism with Chinese characteristics and is a kind of civilization corresponding with the material civilization, spiritual civilization and political civilization.Socialist civilization is a complex organic whole and the social civilization is the important indispensable component part of it. The classical authors of Marxism have not explicitly advanced the social civilization category dealt with in this dissertation, but they concern the civilization problem of socialist society all the time. The socialism with Chinese characteristics pioneered a new road of social civilization. Actually under the leadership of the CPC, the construction of social civilization is always being carried through and being advanced all the time. This construction experience embodies in a series of thoughts and theories concerning the construction of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics from the first generation leadership collectivity of the CPC Central Committee to the CPC Central Committee with comrade Hu Jintao as the General Secretary.In the new century and new phase, especially in the critical period of reformation and development, the voice of the era and the people for the construction of society and social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics is becoming more and more urgent. Keeping eyes on the macro-society and going at the micro-society, CPC Central Committee with comrade Hu Jintao as the General Secretary made the grave strategic decision to construct the socialist harmonious society. Thus, the overall arrangement of Socialist cause with Chinese characteristics has developed from the triplicate to the quaternity. In fact, the society construction and social civilization construction has broke through. In this kind of circumstances, researching the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics while linking it with the human civilization and other forms of civilizations of the socialism with Chinese characteristics becomes a grave subject that can not be parried.The social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics is an organic whole of civilization social life civilization, social relations civilization, social consciousness civilization, social living circumstances civilization and society administration civilization and its core content is social life civilization, social relations civilization, social consciousness civilization. Social life civilization is the unification of social life and social life style. Social relations civilization is the unification of social relations and intercourse style. Social consciousness civilization is the unification of social consciousness and social spirit. Social living circumstances civilization is the unification of social circumstances and the natural circumstances. Society administration civilization is the unification of society administration and the society administration system. Of all, the social living style, the social intercourse style, social spirit, social circumstances and social administration system are the marked symbol of the social civilization state.Corresponding with the overall arrangement of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, the overall arrangement of the civilization construction of the socialism with Chinese characteristics also has developed from the triplicate of material civilization, spiritual civilization and political civilization to the quaternity of material civilization, spiritual civilization, political civilization and social civilization. Social civilization is different and related to the other three forms of civilization. The correct way to deal with the construction of the four forms of civilization is to encircle the center, advance all-sides, complement one another in function, deploy uniformly and act in phase.The social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics, which is an idiographic form of human civilization and socialist civilization and component constituent of the socialist civilization with Chinese characteristics, bears not only the universality of human civilization, socialist civilization and the socialist civilization with Chinese characteristics but also the particularity of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. Based on the inherent requirement produced by this universality, corresponding with the situation of China, sticking to the intrinsic nature of socialism, embodying social developing law and absorbing the wholesome fruits of human civilization are the basic principles of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. Based on the inherent requirement produced by this particularity, building a democratic society under the rule of law, a society based on equity and justice, an honest and caring society, a society full of vigor and a stable and orderly society in which humans live in harmony with nature are the basic requirements of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. The law criterion, moral criterion, institutional criterion and the administration criterion, which should be the unification of the basic principles and requirements of the social civilization, is the idiographic requirements of social civilization activity of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. In the final analysis, the inherent requirement of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics is the requirement for the subject of the social civilization. The subject of the social civilization is people who are engaging in the social civilization practice of the socialism with Chinese characteristics, advancing the process of social civilization and creating achievements of social civilization. The subject idiosyncrasy is mainly manifesting self-consciousness, initiative and creativity. Its basic function and task are exploring the social civilization law, advancing the social civilization process, creating the social civilization fruits and judging the social civilization achievements. In its activity, the basic principle is humane-based.Civilization is the interacting process of the subject and the object and is also a state and a bourn. The highest bourn of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics is social harmony. The connotation of the social harmony is very rich, but its basic meaning is harmony but with reserved difference or pursuit of the agreement while dissolving the disagreement. Under the condition of the socialism with Chinese characteristics, social harmony has its specific connotation. Social harmony is not only the ideality and pursuit of the human civilization, but also the intrinsic nature and realistic task of the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. The process of fulfilling the historical task of building an all-around well-off society, socialist modernization and the socialism with Chinese characteristic is also the process of pursuing the social harmony step by step.The basic task of constructing the social civilization of the socialism with Chinese characteristics is to make people live a well-off life, develop harmonious social relationship, foster social spirit, be a favorable social living circumstances and perfect social administration system. In order to fulfill these tasks, we must not only strengthen and improve the leadership of the CPC, construct a service-oriented government, reinforce the institutional construction, consummate the social civilization criterion, mold the subject of the social civilization,launch activity of establishing social civilization and greatly develop social services, but also deal with various dialectic relationship in social civilization domain of the socialism with Chinese characteristics.
