Research On Political Crisis In Algeria

Algeria began to explore his developing road independently after getting rid of colonial rule. The country developed steadly, made some achievements in political and economical fields and earned international acclaim in the period of Boumedienne. After Chadli's coming into power, Algeria began to change in politics, social opposition arised to challenge authority, which rusulted in a political crisis.This study discussed the influence on political development exerted by interactive relations between county and society in Algeria, analysed the basic principles and essence of political crisis, and it will provide references for research on Middle East countries. Meanwile, it analysed evolution and interactive relations between main factors in political development guided by Marxism, and adopted politics and sociological methodology.In the preface, this paper includes definition of political crisis, analyses the principle about it, and establish basic framework for the study. It has introduced the general situation and characteristics of politics in Algeria, and discusses social development and political dilemma after independence.In the first part:discussed the political instability caused by social deferentiation on the macroeconomic background, its representation is discribed to be:political elite's deferentiation and decline, Islamism's emergence and development, young man's anxiety and suffering, Berber's battle for national identity. It has analysed interactive impact and influence between them.In the second part:All social power begine to express their dissatisfacion on country failed policy with deteriorating economic situation, violence happened sometimes. Chadli want to escape crisis by political reform, but it resulted with anarchy. Islamic Slavtion Front may win the first multi-party election, but it was disturbed by army with military coup.In the third part:the military began to rebuild political order after the coup. Two measures have been taken to end the crisis:peaceful and violent. The military surpressed opposition violently, and Islamic military wanted to establish new political order with their weapons. At the same time, government and some social powers came into contact with each other to explore the possibility of peaceful solution on crisis. The president Zeroual tried to institutionalize political system by holding president election, constitutional amendment and local election designedly, which created a new period of political development.In the last part:analysed it's economic, politial and religious causes of political crisis, discussed the dialectical relations between political democratization and political crisis, and came into a conclusion that deficiency of democracy is one reason of political crisis, but not all. Algeria is out of crisis initially, but it still has a long way to go.
