Research On The Anti-French Struggle Of Algerian National Liberation Front (1954-1962)

After the end of World War Ⅱ, a wave of anti-colonialism appeared in the world, many British and French colonies gained independence before the war. At the same time, as one big north African country, Algeria suffered problems of intensifying social conflicts and widening gap between rich and poor after 132 years of French colonial rule. Algerian people had a strong desire for expelling the French colonists and gating the national independence. Under this background, the Algerian war of national liberation broke out on November 1,1954. The establishment of the National Liberation Front (FLN) made Algerian people see the hope of national independence during the eight years of anti-colonialism war. FLN struggled hardly with French colonists and made an indelible contribution to the victory of Algerian war of national liberation.Based on the historical background of Algerian national liberation war(1954-1962), this paper focused on FLN’s strategy of anti-French war, discussed the battle between FLN and the French government. And this paper had deep analysis of the background of FLN’s establishment, the FLN’s strategy of anti-French and guiding ideology, and the results.This article is divided into four parts. The first part mainly discusses the colonial history of Algeria before and after the establishment of FLN and the background of the Algerian national liberation war. The second part mainly introduces FLN’s strategy of anti-French. The third part discusses the stages of FLN’s anti-French struggle. The fourth part discusses French government’s measures to face the challenge of FLN’s struggle.Algeria had realized the national independence in 1962, this was a victory of FLN and Algeria people.
