Example education is not only the important issue of the growth and development of a person, but also the important issue which theory and practice of example education should face. B-A-Cyxomjnhcknn said. "A man can be only built by other men", "the development and regulation of a man's personality can be only influenced by other men's personalities." The manifestation pattern of example education has varied forms. However, due to the features of real, vivid and lively of the value of example, by holding appreciation of the beauty, feelings, moral theory together, depart from the need, feeling and experience of learners, turning preaching and cramming method into the teaching that admired by learners from heart, then offers an imitation and internalizes the moral quality with the teaching. As a result, it has not only important significance and special program outcomes, but also becomes the essential form of moral education and socialist ideological and ethical progress. In other words, compared with other ways of educating, example education has an advantage of using example which is the personalized value and vivid moral image to move people in order that the inside feeling, pursuit and self-realization of people can be aroused, the passion of pursuing of ideal can be intrigued, the goal and the meaning of education can be unified with people's self-realization. At last, the goal of inspiring people by ambitious ideal, leading people by advanced value, and touching people by outstanding achievement and exampling people by elevated characters.At present, as the socialist market economic system established and multi-culture, varied value systems came into being, the contradiction between moral construction and economy and culture have become increasingly prominent, a number of moral issues appear. In particular, the proliferation of idol worship is becoming the monologue which makes example education at a loss and keeps silence.On the one hand, it is likely to cause confusion in social values and is unfavorable to the establishment of the socialist core values, on the other hand, it is not conducive to the healthy growth of young people and the collective consciousness, dedication, and innovation consciousness formation, thus affecting the coordination between inter-personal relationship and society. Thus, educators have to find the solution of non-adaptive example of educational theory and the awkward predicament in practice which is increasingly prominent. Example education has become an important proposition which affects the outlook of young people on life and values, also has become major theoretical and practical issue in face of socialist core value system and socialist harmonious society.This paper is to research on contemporary example education of China from a methodological point of view and from the standpoint of the Marxism epistemology, using the basic Chinese and Western theory of examples education, the combination approach of psychology, ethics, education and sociology, and the integrated research methods of theoretical analysis , comparison, history, and case analysis. And the purposes of this paper is to point out the special significance in the promotion of self-generated and the construction of social core values, to reveal the main problems and the deep-seated reasons of its formation in the practical application of example education, and to find its inherent laws, then to provide theoretical and practical support for the effective implementation of example education, and for building a scientific system info of example education. In terms of research methods, this thesis takes the basic components such as definition, theoretical basis, social background, and law of contradiction, operating mechanism as "longitude" and the evolution and development of example education as "latitude". From the longitudinal point of view, it examines ideas, mechanism, contents and forms of example education. From the latitudinal point of view, it forms and builds the contents of example education by means of examining the history and present conditions of example education and of finding out causes, analyzing weak and strong points.Besides Introduction and Conclusion, there are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter mainly explains the value of example education, defining the definition, nature and characteristics of it. With Marxist approaches, normative analysis is carried out, and basic theory is explained in this chapter. In the second chapter, the theoretical basis of example education is explained from a multidisciplinary point of view, such as social learning theory, development psychology, social psychology, humanism, subjectivity, inter-subjectivity to expose the inner logical connection of example education. In the third chapter, the learning mechanism of example education is explained such as forms, conditions of occurrences of emulation of examples and the process of acquisition and of learning in terms of learning agent, to explore and explain internal contradiction and laws, providing theoretical supports for the effective practice of example education and counter-measure. In the fourth chapter, on the basis of the review of the development of example education since the foundation of PRC, the comparison of backdrops, objectives, examples and characteristics is carried out in different periods of example education, and its present problems and deep-rooted causes are analyzed in order to discuss the gain and loss of example education and summarize the experiences. In the fifth chapter, on the basis of above-mentioned theoretical analysis, the thesis explores the new approaches of practice, putting forward scientific policies of example education. The major points are in the following:Example education is a very important aspect of moral education, and a very important tool of the implication of moral education and education of people. It possesses both rich connotation of scientific theories and a long and vivid history of practice. The relationship between education and moral education is as follows: the example represents the spirit of quality and ethical standards which is the pursuit value of the individual and the social commitment, and becomes a better choice of the moral objectives and content; the example of education as a moral value provides a vivid image of the carrier and a variety of effective educational tools to become an important way to moral practice and methods. That is, the moral education can spread the code values and the social norms of the times by using the guide function; it can also cultivate a sound personality through following the example of the spirit that goes beyond the personality of the moral ideal in reality. It is hard to realize the aim of the moral education without the effective implementation of the example of education; whereas, without the guide of the Marxism and moral principles, the example education may be in devious, or is difficult to achieve its proper value, and receive good results. Among them, the example education makes both the purpose of education, content and means of the function of education internal fit.The meaning of Example Education is necessarily involved in the fields such as Psychology, Ethics, Education and Sociology, and is always inevitable in these fields. Based on the study and summary of the previous scholars' opinions about Example Education, starting from the dialectical point of view, the thesis states that Example Education and the other moral theories are complementary to each other; they together promote the realization of the individual values and the social values. There are some differences between our country's example education and the Western countries. The West pays more attention to people's autonomy and subjectivity during the process of example education, and set an example by not losing respect of oneself, and more emphasis on the value of individual self-realization. In China, although the example education put the proposal of embodying the organic unity of the individual value and the social value, more emphasis in on the pursuit of the social values, and to realize the self-worth in the realization of social values.Example education is an activity by which the educators inspire and guide the learners to learn from the examples, the image carrier of personality ,and to turn their good qualities, moral values, moral personalities and innovative behavior into their owns. Example, as the value carrier in the teaching course, is the most important element in the example education. Example Education presents specificities in the aspects of the understanding of the meaning and the implementation of the education process etc, because of the value's own identity. These specificities mainly show that the examples in the moral education are not generalized examples, the connotation and extension of their concepts need to be specified in the way of moral values; The Example Education in the moral education stresses the importance of personality, it finally aims at promoting the development of individual virtues, the promotion of quality, the perfection of personality and the innovation of behavior; The essence of Example Education is the example of self personality of the "study subjects", or is the re-creation of the study subjects that aims at the "example personality". The priority of the social values that is showed by Example Education is not the necessary logic or the sole choice in the moral education, in fact, Example Education aims at achieving the final realization of the social values through developing the individual values firstly. From a psychological perspective, example is the reflection of people's psychological requirements for self realization. According to the human practice and the nature of example, example is a product of social development. Intrinsic value, quality (that is the comprehensive quality including psychological quality, moral character, and ability and so on), and personality has three basic elements. Advanced value, excellent quality, perfect personality is not only the unique quality of the example, but also the nucleus content and value purpose of the example education. Fundamentally, example education is one example of educating people by people, which means we guide the person by the example value, cultivate the person by the example quality and mold the person by the example personality.Example education has a history of more than two thousand years along with the development of the theory of moral education. Since the foundation of People's Republic of China, its mode has mainly undergone four periods: large scale construction of socialist system, Cultural Revolution, reform and open and economic globalization. The moral and merit carried by the example depends on the social backdrop, economic basis, political environment and social needs of a given time. However, example education still shares common features .Its theory and practice have shown that it is not just a simple process but one closely associated with the above mentioned factors. By far, there are in large three modes such as teacher-centered cramming, learner-centered selection, and inter-subjectivity dialogue. These different modes are, in terms of economic development and mentality of people, used in different conditions with appropriate methods to ensure the realization of the objectives of moral education. Each mode has its unique strong points. Take the example education in the large scale construction of socialist system for example, it perfectly meets the social needs at the time, with examples of great personality and lofty character representing value-seeking and moral ideal at that time. Undoubtedly, its way of selection and illumination of examples sheds light on the practice of example education at present. But, the former example education has its own inborn defects because its political purposes achieved by cramming determines the impossibility of perfection in every way of practice and result, especially the shortage of personality development and maturity, directly affecting the realization of example education in a full sense.At present, multi-economic, multi-political, multi-cultural and multi-social environment have brought opportunities as well as challenges for example education. The inefficiency of example education shows that there are many problems in educational philosophy, objectives, principles, implementation procedures and methods. These problems not only seriously affected the role of example education, resulting in the inefficiency of example education and the overflow of idol worship, but also make the masses create a crisis of confidence on the examples and example-teaching effect. In addition to the limitations of the theory itself, there are still some other reasons for the inefficiency of example education: the profound changes in social environment and ideology of social groups caused by social transformation; the effect of traditional moral concepts; the expansion of the diverse needs of individuals; the lack of credibility of the examples; the unsound mechanism of masses involvement, rights protection of examples and social justice. Fundamentally speaking, the reasons are the lack of genuine concern of public cultural life, inner needs and the vital interests; the neglect of educated subjectivity and the life, practical nature of moral education. Therefore, this paper puts forward a strategy to solve these problems from the aspects of the general educational ideas and concrete ideas, etc. From a macro perspective, the general ideas include the properly set of modal-education goals, the scientific selection of examples, the correct interpretation of examples, the optimization of the educational process, the consummation of masses involvement, the establishment of a fair and equitable social environment, etc. Concrete ideas are elaborated from a micro perspective, including the way, the principle, the method and the procedure of implementation of example education.
