By reviewing the development of human civilization and history of Wushu we know that human civilization has gone through the phases of gathering and hunting civilization, agricultural civilization and industrial civilization. Correspondingly, Wushu, from the initial killing technology, has developed into traditional Wushu with kinds of Quan as its unit, and competitive Wushu with competition as its main feature.Competitive Wushu is the result of the modernization of Wushu. Its rapid development has undoubtedly promoted the development of Wushu, but some problems have risen since, such as the decline of the humanistic spirit of Wushu, the marginalization of the traditional Wushu, school Wushu education in name only, and a sharp drop in the popular Wushu population. Besides, the fact that competitive Wushu failed to join the Olympic Games and was excluded by the Asian Games is an embarrassment in its own development. Facing this, to help Wushu out of the plight becomes a problem to be solved in theoretical research.The background of China's development is to enhance the national spirit, to build a harmonious society and to create harmonious culture. The development of world civilization is set in a time when industrial civilization with modernization as its vital driving force has faded out and ecological civilization with harmony as its core concept is approaching.To fulfill the aforesaid mission related to cultural soft power requires an appropriate carrier. Can Wushu become a carrier of this? Modern competitive sport is undoubtedly a product of industrial civilization, and competitive Wushu created accordingly is a new direction of Wushu development. Is it possible to maneuver the direction of Wushu development according to the new trend of human civilization? To solve those two questions are key to walk Wushu out of the current difficulties and to meet a bright future.Such solution is given as two aspects follows:School Wushu Education Realm, simple confront-type technical system which can fully reflect spiritual cores of Wushu should be designed according to features of adolescents, and be applied to serve the mission of cultivating the national spirit and promoting social harmony. Public Health Realm, actions inconducive to fitness should be removed, and fitness pattern conducive to physical and mental harmony should be explored relying on slow-type sports. External Promotion of Chinese Wushu Realm, a civilized form of confrontation should be created on the basis of defensive characteristics of Chinese traditional culture.The development of Wushu must conform to the general trend of the development of human civilization. Initial signs of differentiation have appeared in Wushu techniques. According to the concept of ecological civilization, three main forms for the future development of Wushu can be extracted from the original Wushu techniques:the field of competitive sports---civilized confrontation form based on adhesion-type technique, the field of art---harmonious artistic form based on competitive Wushu pattern, the field of public health---slow-type sports featured in body coordination, internal and external integration, and physical and mental harmony. Only in this way can a bridge be built between the reality of Wushu development and the future of Wushu in the sight of ecological civilization anticipated by Professor Qiu Pixiang.
