Prominence which includes stress and accent is a syllable that is more prominent that its neighbors. Prosodic word includes a group of syllables that connect tightly and offen pronounce together. Stress is a syllable that is more prominent than its neighbors of the prosodic word. It is the basic one in the prosodic hierarchy. Prominence which plays a key role in the speech prosody inventation of the hearing-impaired children is a very important factor of prosody. If their prominence problem is solved, their utterance will become more intelligibility and flexibility, that will help them to do a better social intercourse. This research includes two parts. One is about the acoustic characteristics of the stress and the other one is about the production of stress. The first experiment of part 1 ulitilised two methods which included hearing perception experiment and acoustic analise together to verify wether some acoustic parameters are sensitive or not to stress. It found that the three parameters include syllable intensity(SI), syllable duration(SD) and syllable F0 (S F0) were both sensitive to stress. The second experiment ulitilised these three parameters, analysed the differences of the acoustic characteristics between hearing-impaired children and typical group. In the experiment, hearing-impaired group is depart to abnormal stress group and normal stress group. The results were:â‘ he abnormal stress group proformenced differently from typical group on the stress pattern, and the normal stress group proformenced similarly to the typical group.â‘¡The parameters which the abnormal stress group used to reprentate stress syllable were less than that of typical group. Some parameters could substitute the others in this group, and their ability could develop.â‘¢There were some differences between the two states of the prosodic word in hearing-impaired children.â‘£The stress was reprentated by the three parameters which included intensity, duration and pitch together. The part 2 modified the experiment pattern which called word-picture interfere pattern for analyse. It utilised a group of experiments included three related word-picture experiments to analyse the process of stress in the production of prosodic word. The results found that:â‘ there was no independent prosodic structure in the production of prosodic word.â‘¡the abnormal stress group performanced similarly to the typical group in the process of the prosocic word production. Finally, builded a three parameters model which could adjust. And also gave some advice for the inventation of the hearing-impaired children which were abnormal for stress.
