The main goal of mathematical instruction is that the students should master mathematics concept and principle. We should develop the students' thinking and raise their accomplishments by concept and principle instructing. The research on the theory of mathematics concept learning and teaching may not only provide the guidance in practice of mathematics concept learning and teaching, innovation of curriculum, but also lay foundations of scince and system theory of mathematics learning and teaching.This dissertation analyses the mathematics concept learning process in the situation of learning and teaching and establishes the theories of mathematics concept learning and teaching by the modern cognitive view and research methods in education. It discusses characteristic of the representation, factors of influence, difference, and error of mathematics concept learning, and principle and strategies of concept instruction.Mathematics concept learning is generalizing and abstrctizing the essence of category and a experiencing process as well. It is a construction process from personality to object by continously making and correcting. Not only the essence and integrated rules but also the prototype .similarity and exemplar must be refered in mathematics concept formation. Thinking vertically, the process of mathematics concept learning reflects the structure and level. Thinking horizontally, the process reflects stages and process. Thinking synthetically, the process reflects the integration of stage and level of concept learning, and the unification of process and structure, includes the relationship of concept imagery and definition, connections and network, and application and system. The factors of influencing concept learning include past experiences, intuitionistic background, correlational and irrelavant characters, prototype and variation, and affirmative and denial examples. There are differences of stage, level, subject, and individuality and two types of process error and reasonable error in process of mathematics concept learning.Under the guidance of modern cognitive view, the teaching principles of dynamics, process, structure, activity,level, communication, system and development should be conformed with in the process of mathematics teaching. The teaching strategies should be considered in terms of mastering concept constructive and psychology characteristic in mathematics concept learning.
