In order to catch up with the pace of modernization in China, providing the Chinese standard about inertial parameters of adults for research on some fields and production design in some industries, a Chinese Standard of inertial parameters of adult human body is established in the study. This study is based on two research fruits, one is database of human body measurement of Chinese adults, the other is determination of inertial parameters of human body segments by CT method. In the study we designed a measure system that is absorbed in some knowledge and means of mechanics, electrics, biomechanics, and computer technology. 80 adult males and 40 adult females participated in this study. New regress equations of inertial parameters of Chinese adults are established after measured these subjects. A national standard of inertial parameters of Chinese adults was established. It includes: the binary regress equations that calculate segmental mass and center of mass of adult male or female by weight and height; the plural regress equations that calculate segmental mass and center of mass of adult male or female; the binary and plural regress equations that calculate segmental and the whole body inertial moments of adult male or female. The total equations are 168. According to these equations, the average value and standard deviation of inertial parameters of Chinese adults are calculated by the figure parameters that are provided by human measurement database of Chinese adults. These can be used by all industries of China. The national standard about inertial parameters of Chinese adults (GB/T17245) were authenticated by CSBTS in September, 2003. This study compares the results calculated by equations of Chinese adults with those calculated by equations of other countries. The test results of human body mass, center of mass, and the inertial moments of five postures were compared with results that calculated by three kinds of equations from China, the USA, and the former USSR. The results calculated by equations of Chinese adults in national standard were best. They are the most accurate data close to the examination. The errors of the American equations are the most. The veracity of the former USSR's equations are in the middle. This study developed a precision measure system. The precision of instruments that measure center of mass and inertial moments is below 1%. It is an advanced level of national and international. There are three characteristics of this study: (1) powerful research fruits are the backgrounds. The two study base, the determination and statistics of inertial parameters of human body segments of Chinese, and measurement database of figures of Chinese adults, are awarded by the honor of national. They have the profound research base and high-tech backgrounds. (2) examining instruments in this study have high precision. Mechanics, electrics, biomechanics and computer technology are applied to design the measurement system. Therefore, the precision can meet the need of examination. The system has passed the authentication of ISO9000. The measurement results have international advanced level. (3) this standard has a good compatibility to other national standards. Because this standard is established base on many national standards of China, which have the same measurement items and independent variables of regress equations, it has better compatibility and applicability. This standard can be used in many industries and fields conveniently. This standard had been used in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics and sports. It has been proved to be valid and correct. It is suggest that more Industries and research fields use this national standard in the future, especially in the field of scientific research of sports.
