This thesis puts the ideological and political education in middle school of the seventeen years since the founding of the People's Republic of China under historical background of Chinese social change and gives an in-depth study with full documentation, which is divided into five phases in sequence of time. On this basis, the thesis has carried an objectively historical appraisal of the seventeen-year ideological and political education and has proposed some thinking. This thesis consists of preface, text (five chapter altogether) and conclusion. Preface. It has expounded the origin of the subject and research meaning and research current situation, as well as research methods, writing frame and the innovation of the thesis. The first chapter: the ideological and political education in middle school under the background of recovery period of national economy (October of 1949-the end of 1952). In this period, our Party and nation succeeded and developed school education of liberated areas and the fine tradition of ideological and political educational work that had been formed for a long time. On the basis of absorbing some useful experience and benefiting from the Soviet Union's educational experience, our Party had launched ideological education of new democracy in an all round way which the main talent pointed to the thought of feudal, the comprador and fascism. As a result, ideological and political education had got a foot in middle school and efforts had been made to educate teachers and students. The ideological and political education was carried on through teaching procedure of political course and other subjects, combined with Land Reform, the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Movement to Suppress Counterrevolutionaries, "three against" movement and "five against" movement. Communist Party, Communist Youth League, students' union and Young Pioneer in the school had been set up and amplified. The ideological and political educational system had been formed in which the political course had been generally given and combined closely with every political campaign. The second chapter: the ideological and political education in middle school under the background of socialist transformation (the beginning of 1953-the end of 1956). In this period, New China began to implement the first Five-Year Plan on the basis of resuming national economy, made the general line for transition period and the first constitution, set about implementing the socialist transformation of agriculture, handicraft industry, capitalist industry and commerce. Correspondingly, the middle school had proposed the task of socialist ideological and political education according to the spirit of general line for transition period, learned the education experience from the Soviet Union, carried on ideological and political education through teaching procedure, which on one hand had strengthened the ideological and political education in the teaching procedure of every subject, on the other hand, weakened the position of the political course day by day. At this moment, by strengthening current policy education, starting the education of rules for students, labor education, model education and extramural education in practice, the ideological and political educational system in middle school had been formed gradually which was under the leadership of party branch with the coordination of class sponsor, Communist Youth League, Young Pioneer and students' union. The third chapter: the ideological and political education in middle school under the background of the leftist political campaign (the beginning of 1957-the end of 1960). In this period, the government once put emphasis on strengthening the ideological and political education in middle school and resuming political course. A trial draft for the syllabus of political course in middle school was promulgated.
