The basic purpose of my research is to understand deeply the nature and value of discipline practice in elementary and high schools and point out the value orientation it should have and it currently has beginning with the analysis of concept, as well as to table a proposal by reviewing the status quo of the discipline practice in elementary and high schools in China and summarizing the problems and lack it has.From the point of view of this paper, the education value should be dominant in the value system of discipline practice which can be defined as an educational activity. The present practice, however, warps in the value orientation, that is to say, the management value overwhelms the education value so that the discipline practice becomes a tool of management not the educational resource with the obvious managing characteristic. The departure of value orientation is the fundamental reason why discipline practice of elementary and high schools is in a dilemma. As far as the requirement of education and the cultivation of people are concerned, discipline practice must bring education value into play.This paper concludes 5 parts. Part 1: introduction, reasons of research, main concept, basic view and research methods. Part 2: two value orientations of discipline practice. Part 3: research and analysis on the status quo of discipline practices. Part 4: analysis on the reason and lack of discipline practice' s management tendency. Part 5: proposals and suggestions.
