Research On The Discipline Orientation And Discipline Construction Of Broadcasting And Hosting Art Majors

Broadcasting and Communication Art is a major with Chinese characteristics,which was set up attaching great importance to practice and application based on the accumulation of practical experience in broadcasting and hosting of radio and television,absorbing the knowledge of Science of Journalism and Communication,Arts,Linguistics and other disciplines to meet the demands of social posts.Due to the interdisciplinary background,Broadcasting and Communication Art owns a weak discipline foundation.A unified paradigm for academic research was not constructed.Subject classification at education administration also underwent many changes in the history.Moreover,personnel training and curriculum setting in colleges were not standardized.The inconsistence between personnel training and industrial requirement for talent reflects some irrationalities of subject classification which also has been altered several times and experienced continuous disputes,resulting in the structure of major,academic research and personnel training of Broadcasting and Communication always in a disordered system,it will go against long-term development of scientific cultivation for talents.This research explores the main characteristics and reasonable attribution of Broadcasting and Communication Art as an independent major,which was classified as a branch of Communication Science,combining both linguistic and artistic features of broadcasting and hosting activities named as "One Body with Two Wings".According to the new subject orientation above,a framework on major structure,direction of academic research and talent training were proposed.This research consists of three steps.First of all,issues in practice will be discovered by investigation.(In Chapter 2)In Chapter 2,Issues and Dilemma of the Subject Classification for Broadcasting and Communication,historical and practical dilemma of the subject attribution was investigated,highlighting the confusion of subject orientation.Specifically,the history of subject attribution was retrospected.The current disordered situation of talent training program and curriculum setting in colleges was explored,and the gap between industrial demands and personnel training were inquired.The second step is turning to theoretical research from practical problems.Reviewing references and utilizing interdisciplinary research methods for scientific basis explore the discipline characteristics and attribution of Broadcasting and Communication Art.(In Chapter 3-5)In Chapter 3,the relevance between Linguistics and Broadcasting and Communication Art was discussed.The style,rhetoric and standardization of broadcasting and hosting language belong to the category of Applied Linguistics which is a branch of Linguistics.However,the influence from variable of non-verbal transmitting principle and macro social context such as politics,economy,culture,technology,etc cannot be comprehensively explained in the framework of Linguistics.Therefore,Broadcasting and Communication Arts is related to linguistics,but can't be attributed to it.In Chapter 4,the relevance between Broadcasting and Communication Arts and Art Science was presented.This chapter mainly discusses the artistry contained in language and the performance elements in behavior in line with my research.It shows that artistry was existed in language of broadcasting and communication,but it is of naturally distinctive with artistic language such as recitation,crosstalk and storytelling.Meanwhile,I also discussed how performance elements were employed in hosting of literary and artistic programs.Although artistic components were applied in broadcasting and hosting,all reference behaviors are for meeting the requirements of communication effects which are different from the aesthetic performance in artistic activities.Therefore,although education administration sorts the Broadcasting and Communication Arts as a branch of Drama,Film and Television Science of Arts,it can't be categorized as the art discipline from academic level.In Chapter 5,Why Broadcasting and Communication Arts belongs to Communication Science was discussed.Starting from the connotation of the research object of Communication Science analyzed the communication nature and the principles in communication activities of broadcasting and hosting behavior.Then,it discussed the relationship between broadcasting behavior and communication elements in micro communication process,discussed the broadcasting and hosting is under the interaction of multiple communication systems such as mass communication,interpersonal communication and organizational communication.Meanwhile,it described mutual effects between social system and broadcasting and hosting.And my further discussion is the basic research paradigm of Communication Science possesses great applicability for the study of broadcasting and hosting.From aspects above,broadcasting and hosting essentially belongs to communication activity,and the basic research perspective and paradigm of Communication Science are suitable for analyzing broadcast hosting behavior.Only by taking Communication Science as the basic subject orientation,can we fully consider the practice of broadcasting and hosting.The perspective of teaching research can be more comprehensive.The third step is to observe the practice of talent cultivation from the results of theoretical exploration.(In Chapter 6)In Chapter 6,it discussed the academic basis and theoretical framework of subject classification was named as "One Body with Two Wings" for Broadcasting and Communication from the perspective of Communication Science.Based on the scientific argumentation for the discipline characteristics of Broadcasting and Communication in Chapter 3,4 and 5,and on the subject orientation of multi-quality with one keynote of broadcasting discipline presented by China Broadcasting Science,it supposed that the subject orientation is Communication Science with Arts and Linguistics as two wings which forms "One Body with Two Wings" structure.The current trend in practice of Broadcasting and Communication Art and national academic exchanges in Communication Science were also take into consideration.It suggested that Broadcasting and Communication Art should be expanded into a more inclusive major of speech communication on the basis of the new discipline orientation.The concept of "One Body with Two Wings" is to take Communication Science as the subject orientation,and take the linguistic and artistic characteristics in speech communication activities as two wings,to explore the integrated principles between Communication and Linguistics as well as Communication and Arts in speech communication,then preliminarily discussed the academic research direction of speech communication.The framework of training professional personnel and major courses corresponding to the orientation of "One Body with Two Wings" were presented.In accordance with survey data displayed in Chapter 2,the shifting demands for talents of broadcasting and hosting,and the theoretical demonstration and expansion of research scope for "One Body with Two Wings",it presents cultivated direction for talents of speech communication skilled in communication,structure of all-round communication ability and core course system of professional education.
