Since the Han Dynasty(B.C.202-A.D.8), there have been many Han ethnic groups moved into Xinjiang. Especially after 1949, there has been a large-scale unprecedented of government-led Han migration. After living with the Uygurs in decades, the immigrants have changed their livelihoods, language, customs and habits, etc, to adapt at the local society and realize interaction with other ethnic groups. In the dissertation, we use Yuanyi Village and Kuonaxiehaier Village as the cases study, discuss the cultural changes of the Han immigrants and blend between the Hans and the Uygurs in the villages, in order to illustrate the whole south of Xinjiang. Also, we make a comparison between two villages, in order to strengthen the common and personality in cultural changes and inter-ethnic blend there.The dissertation has seven chapters in total.Preface descripts the reasons and significances of the study, combs the relevant researches, explains and defines the related concepts, selected cases and the course of the study. The first chapter studies on the orbit of the Han migration in Xinjiang since Han Dynasty, and disserts the causes, types, characteristics and effects of migrations.The second chapter depicts the Han migrations of Akesu, the villages overview, the Han immigrants and their production and lives in villages. These two chapters are the overall background of the dissertation.From third to sixth chapter are the parts of analysis on the field datas. The third chapter discusses the cultural changes of the Han immigrants, from the livelihoods, languages, customs and housing architectural styles in details, and analyzes the differences of the changes.The forth chapter analyzes the characteristics, roles and the impact factors of the cultural changes in the Han immigrants, the cultural changes of Uighurs, and generational differences, ethnic identity as well as the development of culture of Han immigrants. The fifth chapter discusses the ethnic relations between the Hans and the Uygurs in the villages from six measure indicators, such as living pattern, language exchanges, social interaction, ethnic intermarriage, concepts and awarenesses, and educations of their children, also elaborates the differences in the different villages. The sixth chapter comprehensive analyzes the fusion and conflicts of ethnic relations in villages, then proposes the ways to promote blending, the future development and trends of ethnic relations.The seventh chapter is the summarizing and further deepen researching. In the chapter, we re-consider on immigrations, their cultures and ethnic relations. First, analyzes the will of immigrants, immigration effects, risks of non-voluntary immigration and capacities of villages in southern Xinjiang for Han immigrants. Then, affirms the environmental factors that impact on the cultural changes of immigrants, and elaborats the cultural adaptation of immigrants and stratification. At last, descripts the differences of ethnic relations between the north and south of Xinjiang, also the urban and rural areas, analyzes the applicability of evaluation indexes on ethnic relations, and points out that economic benefits is the most important factor to restricting the ethnic relations in Xinjiang finally.
