In the study of ethnology in China the surrounding socio-economic backward minorities has been given much attention to while the Han nationality in minority areas is ignored. From the viewpoint of the nation, in comparison with the stability of ethnic minorities the stability of the Han nationality in minority areas is equally important, so the study of the Han in minority areas is of great importance.This paper studies Han immigrants systematically at the Youganning town in Henan Mongolian Autonomous County in Qinghai Province, using ethnographic field investigation, participant observation and case study. Via the archives and historical data provided by government, as well as oral information from a survey the source and the causes of han's immigration in Youganning county are recorded and analyzed in details. At the same time the cultural integration and ethnic relations between the local ethnic minorities and Han nationality are paid equal attention through depth interviews.The body of this paper includes seven chapters, including introduction, which explains the the main topics of this thesis, the significance of the scope of the study and the research situation. In addition, the relative research methods of this paper is accounted for in details. The second chapter describes the general situation of Henan county and Youganning Town. The third chapter describes the basic living conditions of the Han immigrants and three major problems they faced. The fourth chapter is mainly about the source and causes of the Han immigration through the analysis of three types of immigration in this area. The fifth Chapter is on the cultural exchange between the Han nationality and minority nationalities. The sixth chapter, using the concept of coupling mechanism, illuminates the relationship between the Han nationality and the minorities in the town of Youganning by analyzing the dependence of minorities on the Han nationality and the win-win condition. The seventh and last chapter is mainly on the multi-ethnic identity of Henan County from the aspects of cultural identity, religious identity, mental identity, political identity.
