Education is the core content of Olympism. It is the lifeline embodied in the Olympic Movement. Besides, it is the very essence of the Movement. The hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games has added a new meaning to the whole Olympic Movement. It is also a great feat of human social activities in this century. Therefore, the people from all over the world have had an opportunity to participate in the comprehensive and profound educational activities of the Beijing Olympic Games as well as to have a full appreciation of Chinese traditional culture. The concepts of the Beijing Olympic Games, namely Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics, People's Olympics and the slogan One World One Dream have an important educational value for the reason that they show great concern for man, society as well as natural ecological environment. It will exert an influence on the effect of the education of the Olympic Movement for us to take advantage of the opportunity of the Beijing Olympic Games to display the educational value of the games to the Chinese people and people all over the world and to study the special educational value and the approaches to realizing it on the basis of exploring the universal educational value of the Olympic Movement. Moreover, the Olympic education with Chinese characteristics will be added to the Olympic Movement as a whole and provide a reference for developing future activities of the Olympic education.The author of the paper adopts many study methods like analyzing documents and materials, investigating and visiting, having questionnaires, making mathematical statistics and conducting logical analysis. In the paper, a study is made of such objects as the educational value of the Olympic Movement, the educational value of the Beijing Olympic Games and approaches to realizing the value and the educational effect of the Beijing Olympic Games. Theoretical foundations are also studied including the principle of the universality of contradiction and the particularity of contradiction, value ontology, man's overall development theory and the essential relations between the Olympic Movement and education. Thus, the study results have been obtained as follows.1. The study of the general educational value of the Olympic MovementThe definition of the educational value of the Olympic Movement is that there exists a special relationship between the Olympic Movement, known as the attribute of a social practical activity and the development needs of man and society. The educational value of the Olympic Movement falls into the individual education value and social educational value. The former mainly represents four aspects including the educational value of the human body, morale, intellectual education and aesthetic appreciation. And the latter mainly represents three aspects including the value of the social ethics like fairness and justice, the peaceful value of unity and friendship, and sustainable development value of promoting a harmonious development between man and the environment.2. The study of the educational of the Beijing Olympic GamesThe definition of the educational value of the Beijing Olympic Games is that there exists a special relationship between the Beijing Olympic Games, known as the attribute of a social practical activity and the development needs of man and society. the special relationship between the Beijing Olympic Games and the satisfaction of the development needs of man and society. The educational value of the Beijing Olympic Games cannot be realized until the people know and understand its structure, function, law, attribute and level, which will bring them some profits, stimulate their needs and enable them to know and enjoy the Beijing Olympic Games under the promotion of human feelings, knowledge, abilities and will. The Beijing Olympic Games reflect not only the educational value of the Olympic Movement in universal significance but also its own special educational value such as the public educational value, the promotion of the consciousness of Chinese national culture and also of the spirit of volunteers in the Beijing Olympic Games. 3. The approaches to realizing the educational value of the Beijing Olympic GamesThere are five approaches to realizing the educational value of the Olympic Games by combining physical education with culture and art, providing model education, drawing up an Olympic educational plan, conducting media education and holding national theme activities like National Fitness Program along with the Olympic Games.4. The educational effect of the Beijing 2008 Olympic GamesThe students in the Olympic educational model schools show greater concern for, know more about, take more active part in the Beijing Olympic Games and also have higher humanistic quality than those in average middle schools. This goes to show that conducting colorful Olympic educational activities helps both produce a good effect of the Olympic education and realize the educational value of the Beijing Olympic Games.
