Study On Intra-industry Trade Of China's Timber Products

Intra-industry trade refers to the economic the phenomenon of exising import and export in the same product sector of one country or region at the same time. Intra-industry trade has become an import driving force to promote international industry division and accelerate new industry development. One the one hand, Intra-industry trade promotes the shaping of scale economy and product differentiation, lessens the importance of factor endowment between different countries, and improves industrial international competitiveness. On the other hand, the level and scale of intra-industry trade reflects the ability of adjusting self production of one country facing broader international market. It has been an important strategy for developing countries to promote economic growth by intra-industry trade.Timber belongs to natural, green and environmental material. From the perspective of forestry development experience of developed countries, forest products based on timber take up an extremely important strategic poison in national economy development. Timber has become a kind of necessary and indispensable material duiring the development of economy and society. The quantity and quality of wooden product has become an important mark for evaluating comprehensive power of one country. Being a developing country and forest-scarced country, the development of intra-industry trade of timber product can lessen the shortage of China's forest endownment, satisfy increasing demand for timber products and gradually promote international competitiveness of China's forest industry. Under this background, it has theoretical and practical significance no doubt to study intra-industry trade of China's timber products.Based on the general analysis of China's timber trade, this dissertation finds the phenomenon of existing inter-industry and intra-industry trade. In order to deeply understand the current status of the intra-industry trade of China's timber products, this dissertation quantitively analyzes the level, sort and key influencing factors of intra-industry trade of China's timber products. Intra-industry trade can effectively accelerate industial competitivenss. This dissertation also quantitively analyzes the impacts on international competitiveness brought by intra-industry trade. Lastly, this dissertation brings forward countermeasures on how to develop intra-industry trade of China's timber products on aspects of government, industy association and enterprise. The research of this dissertation can help to supply theoretical foundation for upgrading of China's forest product trade, provide scientific base for formulating and adjusting forest product trade policy for relevant government, and also give a reference for the study of intra-industry trade of other industries.
