Since the 1980s, many western countries have entered an era of service economy. Service industries play an overwhelmingly leading role in the national economy, and the expansion of productive services in developed countries and the international metropolis is the main feature in their economic growth, also known as the most dynamic, fastest-growing sector, with a strong concentration and spreading effect. Compared with developed countries, China lagged behind in productive services development, which is likely to become the "bottleneck" for China's economic leap-forward development. But China is accelerating the process of industrialization, which provides a broad space for the development of productive services. Accelerating producer services has strategic significance for perfecting the development, optimizing industrial structure, this is also very important for upgrading the three major industrial competitiveness, innovating development model, as well as seizing the strategic opportunity and achieving the goal of building a moderately prosperous society. With our community's extensive attention, the productive services is developing at an unprecedented pace. However, the imbalanced regional development between different areas has a negative impact on the entire national economy. Relying on the regional advantages and industrial base, the eastern coastal areas seized the opportunity and rapidly developed productive services, but in the relatively underdeveloped central and western regions (defined as less developed regions in this paper), due to many factors, the development of productive services is relatively backward and could not fulfill their economic function and effectively support the regional economic development. The study of producer services has caused widespread domestic and international academic attention. West nations studied it in a quiet early time, and the contents are more comprehensive. In recent years, China has also emerged a large number of research achievements in this regards, which has served as a very good reference for the development of producer services. However, most studies are based on foreign countries or cities, the research about these regions is already quite mature. On the contrary, there are rarely studies on the development of producer services for developing countries or less developed areas. Due to the special nature of the economic backwardness, it's quiet doubtful whether we can follow the path of the developed countries or regions in their productive services development. Therefore, based on the less-developed status, looking for factors affecting the development and the developing path for less developed areas in their productive services development has practical significance. This paper focuses on the development of productive services in underdeveloped regions. Based on organizing domestic relevant theory and literature, this paper conducts a in-depth analysis of productive services on the internal mechanism of the regional economy, then comparatively analyzes the productive service development between less developed areas and developed areas, probes the restricting factors affecting the development of productive services in less developed areas, and finally, from the perspective of playing advantages as a later comer, this paper explores the development path for underdeveloped areas. It also proposes the developing strategy vision. It is divided into eight chapters as follows:Chapterâ… introduces the research background and significance, analyzing both domestic and international research results in the field of the conception of productive services, the growth dynamics, the role in regional economic development and the distribution in different regions. A brief comment follows in each field, noting the shortcomings of existing research results, and posing the research content framework for this paper. Chapterâ…¡mainly defines the relative concept, introducing the characteristics of productive services, development trends and the experiences we can learn from developed countries, trying to build theoretical framework for the less developed areas in productive service development. Chapterâ…¢gives an in-depth analysis of producer services mechanism on promoting regional economic development. We can see case studies with the establishment of an empirical analysis of panel data models. Chaptersâ…£analyzes, with comparative research methods, the current situation in productive service industry between developed regions and less developed areas, pointing out the problems fort the less developed areas in producer services development. Chapterâ…¤is to analyze the factors affecting productive services development in less-developed regions, with case studies using multiple linear regression model for empirical analysis. Chapterâ…¥discusses the advantages as a late-comer of underdeveloped areas in the development of productive services and the conditions to convert these advantages, based on the advantage to explore the development of underdeveloped areas and to make the path development of strategic vision. Chapterâ…¦takes Jiangxi province as an example, presents sustainable development ideas for its producer services according to its productive services development status and problems. Chapterâ…§summarizes the main contents and conclusions of the paper, pointing out future research directions and the shortcomings in this paper.
