In the backdrop of economic globalization, the proportion of services trade in the global international trade has been improving, and its importance has become more and more prominent, especially in knowledge-intensive trade in services. The trend of world economic development demonstrates that status of the services sector in the development of a country's economy will continue to increase, especially knowledge-intensive services sector will help improve a country's national competitiveness. At present, the structure of global services trade is changing, which makes services trade transit from the traditional industry such as transport, tourism and construction contracting to knowledge-and technology-intensive areas, the knowledge-intensive service industries as the carrier of high-tech have been developing rapidly, while the position and the proportion of the knowledge-intensive services trade in world trade have been rising. However, there is a huge trade deficit in our knowledge-intensive industry, which lacks international competitiveness. This imbalance of China's trade development shows that we should optimize services trade structure, change the mode of development of services trade and improve the international competitiveness of the knowledge-intensive services trade. The thesis mainly studies two aspects, the development of knowledge-intensive services trade in China, and the economic effects of China's knowledge-intensive services trade development, which provides a theoretical and empirical evidence for structure optimization and upgrading, and the economic transition of China's services trade.Chapter II expounded the meaning of the knowledge-intensive services trade, defined the scope of study on knowledge-intensive services trade, and analyzed the characteristics of knowledge-intensive service industries and knowledge-intensive services trade, as well as its trade patterns; then a compromise between the theoretical framework influcing knowledge-intensive services trade development factors was proposed from four aspects of production advantages, industry advantages, demand advantages, trading advantage; from the point of knowlede promoting economic growth, theory of knowledge-intensive services trade promoting economic growth was studied here. The third chapter studies the current development of knowledge-intensive services trade in China and the global, it is concluded that the competitiveness of developed countries in the field of knowledge-intensive services trade is much stronger than that in developing countries, which gap was caused by the imbalance between developed and developing countries'development; in addition, the chapter described the service outsourcing and knowledge trade barriers which is increasingly hidden; and the chapter measured the opening degree of knowlede-intensive services trade in China and America from2000to2010, it is concluded that China is quite good in the knowledge-intensive services trade opening through the comparative analysis, indicating that China has been active in opening up the domestic services market and tried to adjust the structure of the various departments of the service industry after the accession to the WTO.Chapter IV conducts an empirical analysis to the spatial distribution of the knowledge-intensive services trade, as well as factors affecting the distribution, coming to the conclusion:the spatial distribution of the knowledge-intensive trade in services is mainly related to two factors, one is the elements of human capital, the other is the use of foreign elements. And trade competitiveness index of TC, the Michaely index, RCA, and the NRCA index were used to calculate the international competitiveness of China's knowledge-intensive services trade, which is concluded:(1) knowledge-intensive services trade in China lack competitiveness;(2) insurance services, financial services, royalties and license fees, as well as film, audio and video these high value-added industry show disadvantage obviously, and exist huge gap compared with world's major developed countries and regions.Chapter V applied stepwise regression analysis to analyze the factors affecting development of knowledge-intensive services trade, and found that technological innovation and human capital stock are the main influencing factors. In order to promote China's services trade structure optimization and stimulate the development of China's service industry so as to improve their international competitiveness, we should increase the quality of human capital investment. In chapter VI, the cointegration test method is used to analyze the short-and long-run equilibrium relationship between knowledge-intensive service trade import and export volume and gross domestic production (GDP) in China from1990to2010, and it's concluded that knowledge-intensive services trade import and export volume both have always had a positive effect on economic growth in the short-term and knowledge-intensive services trade export volume has greatly promoted China's economic growth in the long-term.Finally, from the macroscopic point of government and the microscopic point of enterprises respectively, it's proposed comprehensive strategy for developing knowledge-intensive services trade in China. The international competition for knowledge-intensive services trade is actually becoming the knowledge-intensive service industry's competition among countries, eventually competition in knowledge-intensive services firms among countries, the government should vigorously support the knowledge-intensive service enterprises, help these enterprises embark on stable road of international operations, which can further promote development of knowledge-intensive trade in services in China.
