| This dissertation focuses on the strategy of the characteristic economy development in Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region in China in order to advance the research into the question in three aspects: theoretical analysis, empirical analysis and policy analysis.The task for study is to search for the strategic model that is suitable for the characteristic economy development in Xinjiang by applying national economics, regional economics and the theories and methods interrelated. To develop the characteristic economy in Xinjiang is the needs of making it to suit for the globalization of the world economy, for carrying out the develop-the-west strategy, for developing the market economy, and for the industry,industrialization and urbanization.The dissertation is guided by Marxism theory and combines with the achievements in the research and practice of the regional characteristic economy development indoors and outdoors, and applies mainly the thoughtful method of scientific theory, and analyzes and researches the question of the development of the characteristic economy in Xinjiang from the angle of characteristic development.In the theoretical analysis based on interrelated theories ,this dissertation puts forward a theory frame and construction principle of the characteristic economy of Xinjiang .It advances several important points of view that are to take characteristic demand as guide ,to take characteristic priority resources as base, to take opening towards the middle and western Asia as important part of opening towards all the world,to take green product and brand as forerunner, to take sustainable development as goal, to carry out completely four grand strategies including transforming priority regources, thriving Xinjiang by science and technology and education, opening towards all the world and sustainable development strategy.
