With the developments of economic and social contacts, the exhibition economyhas improved its status in national economy. In China, the exhibition economy hasalso been the opening window and platform for major city, which will put forwardcommon development of whole area and even regional economic circle. In1990’s,Xinjiang has speed up its reforming and opening policy, Xinjiang’s exhibitioneconomy has become more and more brand and been a rapid developing industry. In2011, there has been a new peak of Xinjiang exhibition. The "Urumchi economy andtrade negotiation meeting" which has been successfully held19sessions wasofficially upgraded to the national "China-Eurasia EXPO". Xinjiang’s exhibitionindustry will also face more broad prospects and better tomorrow by the deepening ofopening west strategy and the development of relationship between China and itswest neighbors.To accelerate the development of Xinjiang exhibition is the needs ofdevelopment of era, and also is strong measures to deepen the western openingstrategy, to promote Xinjiang foreign trade import and export and investment, tostrengthen the construction of Xinjiang City. Firstly, this paper will discuss the basicproblems of Xinjiang exhibition development. secondly, it will analysis majorproblems of the Xinjiang exhibition according to the empirical investigation onUrumqi Trade Fair (China-Eurasia EXPO) of western China: the degree of marketneeds to be improved; infrastructure construction need to be strengthened;international is limited; professional services needs to be improved; urgentlyexpansion of its influence; Project performance rate is insufficient; theoreticalresearch level and empirical research of exhibition market needs to be improved; theinfluences of internal and external factors. Based on these analyses, it further discussof the causes of problems: ideas and function of government; Xinjiang‘s natural andsocial conditions; Xinjiang’s current social productivity level and the gap with eastregion, Xinjiang’s geopolitical status effects. Furthermore, with comparative study of CAEXPO and the Western China International Fair, there still exist a lot ofexperiences. Finally, it raises some suggestions for future development of Xinjiangexhibition: defining government function, strengthen the public service mechanism;controlling the exhibition scale and quality, formulating corresponding developmentstrategy of exhibition; making good use of advantage of geopolitical advantages ofXinjiang, prominent the function of Western Open bridgehead; relying on thenational strength to make quick development of Xinjiang exhibition; making moreconstruction on infrastructure; increasing research on exhibition and summing upexperience in time; changing exhibition layout depending on the situation.
