With the reform and open policy of China as well as its continuous economic growth, the emerged phenomenon of the high-speed growth in China's foreign trade draws widespread interest from the domestic and overseas academic circles. There have been abundant of literatures of empirical study on the relations between Chinese foreign trade (exports in particular) and the economic growth, but the strict empirical study about the structure of export is relatively few. With the rapid growth of China's exports, various changes of the export structure have come to the surface. This will affect the continuous and stable development of China's exports as well as the role that the export plays in promoting the economic growth based on the analytical paradigm of "total-structure-benefit". Empirical study on the structure of China's exports is extremely essential, for it will provide empirical support for the change of our export strategy from attaching more importance to the increase on quantity to the structure of exports. This paper takes the classical trade theory, neoclassical trade theory and new trade theory's evolution as well as the new growth theory as its logical beginning, on the basis of thorough research on the development of China's exporting trade and its emerged structure questions, it conducts the empirical study export structure from the aspects of the export commodity composition, the export mode structure, the export region structure and so on.Because of the complexity of the export structure, no mature theoretical analysis frame has come into being by now. The purpose of writing the paper is not to establish a strict logical theory system, but to place importance in supplying empirical data for the export strategy's changeover to paying the same attention to total and structure, or even giving more concern to the transformation of...
