Study On Supporting Policy And Improving The Competition Of Jiangsu's Agriculture

In new century, there are a lot of challenges of the market and internationalism in our country's agriculture, especially after entering the WTO. How to prepare for the challenges and difficulties? Improving the Competition must be an important thing. And the key is how the governments support and protect the agriculture. Due to the special position of agriculture, many countries have practiced supporting policy more or less. The difference is just in the contents and strength of these policies. What we have to do is to adjust our countries supporting policies and improve the competition of our agriculture according to the rules of WTO.Based on the theories such as comparison advantages, agriculture competition, agriculture developing strategies and agriculture support and protection of WTO, we reviewed the history of Jiangsu 's agriculture, evaluated the main agricultural products , and compared the policies between Jiangsu and other countries .Then we analyzed the competition of Jiangsu's agriculture , and the support policies of Jiangsu . At last, we gave some suggestion of improving the competition of jiangsu's agriculture and a possible supporting policy in the following years.The conclusions is the followings:i. The basic way of our country's agriculture is to adjust our developing policies. That is to change from the traditional to the modern ones, like enhancing the compared advantages of our agriculture. For that reason, we should change our support policy from the direct protection to indirect ones , such as increasing the rate of using resources , lowing the producing cost and improving the quality of farm goods and so on.ii. The second one is using the "the green box "to support the agriculture. Although the "agricultural pact" limits the support and protection to agriculture , its green box policy has given every member country an opportunity to do some support .so, we can use the opportunity and enlarge investment in our agriculture, such as the research , market service , Foundation facilities development and so on.
