Study On Change Of Environmental Quality In The Period Of Rapid Economic Growth

Reform in China has resulted in unprecedented economic expansion since 1978. China is creating another economic miracle after the East Asian. However, while the economic shift is remarkable, various emerging environment problems in China have attracted even more worldwide attentions. With industrialization and modernization, a series of environmental problems are following one by one. In recent years, with great attention and efforts the central government has took various technical measures and severe policy implements to improve the environment condition. However, how serious can the environmental pollution be in China? Which factors account for these environmental problems? How to govern the environmental pollution effectively? To some extent, the above issues determine China's sustainable economic and environmental development in the new century. This paper attempts to identify the factors causing the environment quality change and the rules of environment quality change in emerging economy, and to provide policy solutions based on a framework of economic growth and institutional arrangements. The paper is organized as follows:This paper first introduces the research background and puts forward the research issue. Literature section briefly reviews available studies domestic and abroad on the environmental quality change, and makes brief comments on those achievements. Following that, the basic concepts and content, the methodology and the data sources, research framework, creativity and possible deficiency are summarized.From the perspective of the development economics, the link between economic growth and environment may display distinct character at different economic growth stage. According to the theoretics of development economics, the process from Reforming and Opening in China is the phase of speedily economic growth, whose main character is strongly holding in resource and environment. Furthermore, by the comparison of time and GDP, this paper indicates that the environmental pollution in China tends to worsen and we are following the road of Environmental Kuznets Curve. The environmental pollution has brought increasing economic efficiency loss, as well as the environmental pollution migration and environmental pollution unfairness between the city and rural areas.
