Under complex, changing and dynamic environment, more and more enterprises depend on their network which is composed of some correlative enterprises, organizations and individuals in order to boost up their competitive capability and develop sustainablely. Therefore, the enterprises pay more attention to co-development and co-prosperity of the whole network besides fostering and developing their core competency. The life characteristics which enterprise takes on and the comparability between enterprise ecology and biology ecology have recognized by academic circles and industrial community, so it is of great realistic significance and academic value to study enterprise network which is compared to business ecosystem by adopting ecological theories. The theory of ecology, complexity science, management science, economics, organizational behavior and some other relative theories are involved in this dissertation in researching deeply the meaning and characteristics, the rule and mechanism of dynamic evolvement, and operational management of business ecosystem. The dissertation mainly includes:1. The notion and meaning of business ecosystem is defined by using ecological metaphor and adopting the theory of bionics, its structure, border and scope are systemically analyzed and its main characteristics are described from three aspects: its members, the whole system and the correlation between its members.2. The rule of dynamic evolvement of business ecosystem is analyzed. Every business ecosystem develops in four distinct evolutionary stages: birth, growth, maturation and self-renewal or, if not self-renewal, death, and the state of symbiosis among its members also shows the evolutionary characteristics that the systematization degree heighten, the co-evolvement effect increases and the symmetry of symbiotic value distribution improves. Based on the theory of dissipative structure, its evolutionary mechanism is studied. The conclusion is that the evolution of business ecosystem results from combining self-organization with environmental selection.3. Based on the thought and analytic framework of Strader's IFOT model for virtual enterprise's operation, an operational model for business ecosystem is constructed by considering its essentially different characteristics comparing with virtual enterprise and its core task at every phase of evolvement.4. Several key issues in the operational management for business ecosystem, such as system construction, optimization of function-flows, operational mechanism and synthetic evaluation about health of business ecosystem, are respectively researched. Firstly, a common step of system construction is put forward, the main factors considered in partner selection are analyzed, and the decision-making on it is quantificationally researched by using a method which is combined by a single-objective optimization model in uncertain multi-attribute decision-making and fuzzy optimization selection based on the deviation degree. Secondly, the current mechanism of function-flows including materials, knowledge, culture, information and so on in business ecosystem is analyzed and the improvement measures on them are presented.
