| Cities play a more and more important role in our national economy asthe urbanization moves on. How to improve cities' competition abilitieswhile maintaining their sustainability and health has become an urgent andinevitable issue. The present thesis uses methods such as standard analysis,concrete analysis and comparative studies, elaborating on the managementtheories and the strategic problems encountered in Fuzhou. The first partbriefly sums up the present status of city management theories both at homeand abroad, on the basis of analyzing both achievements and drawbacks;secondly, we focus on the theoretical basis and general theories and theirmain ideas, surveying the concepts of city management, and redefine thisconcept with my own working experience, at the same time pointing out thatsustainable development is the ultimate goal of city management; the presentthesis talks about macro-management such as strategic plan, enterprisepolicies and city image, and analyzes micro-management such as land using,fundamental facilities and city ecology. The third part is about the overalland systematic comparative studies, in which the analyzing of relativeconcepts makes the connotation of city management clearer; the comparisonof city management and enterprise management further clarifies the aim ofcity management, preventing short-term procedures; the author would like totalk about the different features of different countries, cities or differentstages of development of the same city, thus incur the feasibility of citymanagement theories. On the basis of the above analysis, the present thesisuses core competition theory and achievement evaluation methods to probe intoa deeper investigation, enriching the theoretical system of city management.Finally, the present thesis studies the practical status of city managementmode in China. The author offers three modes of city management, namely,environmental mode, brand mode, and function mode. Meanwhile the authorpoints out there are still some mistakes in the process of city management, and analyzes the causes of these mistakes, presenting tentatively solutionsand strategies. The last part is about the specific solutions to citymanagement in Fuzhou. |
