Research On The Sustainable Development Pattern Of Petrochemical Industry In China

Petroleum is the essential resource as energy and raw material for petrochemical industry. Based on petroleum petrochemical industry plays a very important role in the development of China's industry, even to the national economy as a whole. In recent years, oil demand in China has been increasing rapidly as the heavy-petrochemical industry and urbanization are gaining pace. Because China is scarce in oil resources, the gap between the oil demand and domestic oil production has widened. At the same time, the increased production and comsuption of oil and petrochemical products have resulted in the deterioration of the environment and the inequality of the society. As a pillar industry in China, it is unregulated under the commitment of the WTO entry., the ever-intensive competition from the international players poses a great threat to the sustainable development of the china's petrochemical industry. Therefore, how to realize sustainable development of China's petrochemical industry has become an urgent task for us.Guided by the Marxism theory on economy, this thesis starts with the analysis of evolution and status of China's petrochemical industry in terms of industrial structure, production, consumption, and comes up with the particular features of China's petrochemical industry and its sustainable development. And then the comparison with the international petrochemical industry gives us the clear picture that there is much room to be improved for china's petrochemical industry. Next the thesis has evaluated the development level of petrochemical industry in China, made some investigation into the challenges faced with the industry. Finally the thesis comes to the conclusion that the circular economy is the best theory to ground the sustainable development of petrochemical industry in China. And the sustainable development of China's petrochemical insdustry should follow the path as "Circulated pattern based on Centralized Production System, Eco-industry Park, Enterprise, Industry and the Society".Based on the framework for China's petrochemical industry, the thesis figures out some critical problems entangled in China's petrochemical industry and their roots, and in the light of the conclusion that, the thesis put forward some countermeaseres for the sustainable development of petrochemical industry in China, i.e. proper regulation by government, optimization of the industry policy, enhancing both domestic and international crude oil supply, seeking oil substitutes and heightening the consciousness of energy conservation, establishing the strategic oil stock mechanism, making best use of technologic innovation, integrating the organization structure in petrochemical industry, etc., with an expectation to provide certain reference for sustainable development of China's petrochemical industry, promoting green consumption, etc. It is for the reference for the petrochemical producers, comsumers and the industry regulaters.
