Unlike single modern economy in developed countries, the economy in most developing countries exist two entirely different sectors: traditional agricultural sector which is dominant and modern industrial sector which is just take-off. From the perspective of region, the former locates in country, the latter generally locates in city. This coexistence of traditional economy and modern economy in developing countries is dual economic structure.Economic development not only means growth of income which is increment in quantity, but also means change of structure which is transformation in quality. Dual economic structure is the most prominent character of Chinese economy, also is currently the important contradiction which restrict economic development of China. Therefore, promoting the transformation of dual economic structure is an intrinsic desire which realizes the sustained development and constructs the harmonious society.Since half century, economic policies in China have always inclined in industry and city. This unbalanced pattern of development, not only hasn't promoted successful transformation of dual economic structure finally, but also results in structural solidity and transformation sluggishness of dual economy. Through rethinking, we realize that the transformation of dual economic structure is a complicated process relating to many aspects in economy and society. China is a relatively backward big country in the world, the situation of country and the external environment faced by economic development entirely differ from the developed countries, simply applying the mainstream pattern of development with the prominent character of industrialization and urbanization, can't resolve a good many problems in economic development of China. Therefore, based on the foreign successful experience which is drawn on, and combining actual circumstances in China, this dissertation thinks that the crucial point of transformation of dual economic structure lies on the balanced development of dual economy, furthermore, the development of agriculture is the most crucial.Based on the relevant researches at home and abroad with regard to the problems of dual economic structure, this dissertation emphasizes to investigate the modes and rules of economic function from the perspective of economic structure, consequently uncovers the interrelation and interaction between agricultural economy and industrial economy. The major contributions of this dissertation are as follows:1. Using a variety of indices to measure, we carry on an overall analysis concerning the evolution and current state of dual economic structure in China, consequently conclude main reasons for rigidity of dual economic structure.2. Applying disequilibrium growth model, we proceed to an empirical analysis on the economic effect of structural change and resource reallocation in China, from a quantitative view, reflect the contributions of dual economic structure, and especially labor reallocation to economic growth in China.3. With an analysis on the transformation process of dual economic structure in other countries, we conclude general rules of structural transformation. Based on this conclusion, and combining actual situation in China, we revise the pattern of development with single industrialization, finally put forward some policy choices of balanced development of dual economy.
