Study On Evaluation System And Methods Of Tourism Resources

Tourism resources are material base in the development of tourism. Scientific knowledge and proper assessment of tourism resource are the premises of resource development, using, management and conservation. The implement of the national standard (GB/T18972-2003) drew more attention in the research community of tourism. The assessment of tourism resources is becoming emphasis and focus in tourism research for the time being. However the tourism research now is still a dispersed multidisciplinary which attaches more importance to application than theory. A scientific and complete theoretical system of tourism resource assessment has not been formed.In view of this the paper based on the combination of practical with theoretical research, qualitative analysis with quantitative study and references-using with innovation. After the definition of tourism resource, the classification and investigation of resources were further studied. A relatively complete theoretical system of tourism resource assessment was established on the basis of former research productions of theory and practice of tourism resource assessment. The research took the opportunity of investigation and planning of tourism resources in Zhejiang Province to analyze the case so as to provide theory and decision-making support for implement of China's sustainable tourism strategy through systemic analysis and integrated assessment.1 Domestic and foreign research progress of tourism resource assessment was described and the study contents were put forward on the level of epistemology. The assessment method was studied from two aspects of qualitative and quantitative assessment. Then the meaning of tourism resource was defined scientifically through integrated analysis on different domestic and foreign definitions of tourism resource and the basic characteristics of tourism resource were concluded. Then the classification system of tourism resource was studied and a new classification system was studied out in accordance with national standards. 2 Since the issue of it, (GB/T 18972-2003) has been widely applied among the community of tourism assessment. It has put forward relatively complete practical technologies and methods of classification, investigation and assessment of tourism resources and has provided regional investigation with scientific support. The paper summarized investigation contents of tourism resource and research progress first. Then the problems which occurred during the application of the national standard were discussed. It is found that the classification of tourism resources is short of scientific reason and logic and the investigation of tourism resource lacks technological maneuverability. The improvement of the national standard was promoted with this object to offer references to research of tourism resource investigation in the future in China.3 A new theoretical system of tourism resource assessment was put forward based on systemic science theory and former research productions. Tourism resource assessment was divided into three levels on spatial and temporal scale: assessment of single tourism resource, assessment of concentrative region of tourism resources and integrated assessment of regional tourism resources. The mathematical model, quantitative index and assessment method were initially established in the assessment system on the principle of resource support and market orientation. The tourism resources of Zhejiang Province were case-studied as assessment object on the level of practical theory and concrete Countermeasures and proposals on development and management of tourism resources were put forward based on the analytic results.In the course of assessment of single tourism resource, some incomplete assessment standards of single tourism resource in (GB/T18972-2003) were analyzed. A more operable assessment system and a proposed scheme were put forward base on some modification. The empirical research on fine single tourism resource of Shipu Town, Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province achieved recognized results more easily and makes assessment of single tourism resource more scientific and more standardized. In the assessment of concentrative region of tourism resources, the meaning of concentrative region was defined scientifically first. Then the tourism resources in concentrative region were assessed and analyzed in two cases based on regionally associative degree. The national key scenic spot, Shuanglong area represents the concentrative regions with relatively concentrative tourism resources. 20 fine single tourism resources were chosen and assessed by 8 indexes in the analysis of main components. It is aimed to provide decision-making support for layered development of tourism resources in concentrative region. Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province represents the regions with low correlative tourism resources. A vague integrated assessment model was established to assess the potential development of tourism resources in concentrative region synthetically and quantitatively by level analysis and Delphi methods. It is aimed to direct development of regional tourism resources. Integrated assessment of regional tourism resources were cluster analyzed by self-organized feature mapped network which is relatively advanced in technologies of artificial neural networks. 72 counties in Zhejiang Province were studied in the paper. On the basis of collecting references about integrated assessment of regional environment quality and on the basis of building correlative social and economic factors, the quality, kinds and spatial structure of regional tourism resources were analyzed and geographical difference rules of tourism system in Zhejiang Province were studied. Then the integrated assessment of tourism resources was studied to discuss industrial orientation and development direction and to realize the coordination and harmonization of social, economic and ecological benefits in regional tourism.
