| Along with the concept of scientific development and constructing a socialist harmonious society being proposed in resent years,regional development issues has been becoming the focus of attention of many scholars.Although,how to realize regional sustainable development from point of view of the ecological and economic system interaction and coordinated development has been the basis and the necessary channel to coordinate relationship between human and nature.The concept of Eco-economic regionalization is about to clarify the existing problems in the ecological construction and economic development by the intrinsic analysis of the relationship between the ecological characteristics and economic elements from their respective-spatial state,to summing-up the geographical diversity with different eco-economic functions scientifically,to illustrate their regional functions and developmental pattern.Due to their rich natural resources and unique geographical location,Loess Plateau has been in a strategic position in the pattern of national construction and development since ancient times.In this dissertation,the eco-economics principles and theory are applied,field investigation and modern analytical methods are adopted,eco-economic coupling development mechanism of the Loess Plateau is explored firstly.Then 282 counties are taken as the basic test unit for the establishing of eco-economic regionalization model and method based on GIS technology and statistics.Following with steps above,4 comprehensive eco-economic regionalization and 18 eco-economic of the Loess Plateau is represented. Finally,the eco-economic functional orientations of these 18 districts are proposed.The main research of the dissertation can be divided into six parts.Partâ… ,Introduction.The basic principles of ecological and economics research background are introduced.With the collection and analysis of historical documents on the Loess Plateau,the current ecological and economic status is presented.Also the research framework,methods and innovation of the dissertation is briefly described.Partâ…¡,Design & development of the Loess Plateau eco-economic database system. GIS-based technology is implemented,MO GIS component library and ACCESS2000 database are integrated with Visual Basic6.0 programming platform,basic eco-economic database system of the Loess Plateau is developed. The third part,Methods and target system of the Loess Plateau eco-economic regionalization.According to the principles of ecological and economic regionalization,the district level,the basis and methods are illustrated.Also,index system and the technical route are developed at the same time.The fourth part,Eco-economic regionalization of the Loess Plateau.According to the theory of Eco-economic science and the practice of the industrial development,the "top-down" and "bottom-up" regionalization channels are adopted simultaneously.Different environmental conditions,industrial structure and level of development are put forwarded subsequently.Therefore,4 Loess Plateau eco-economic bands and 18 eco-economic regions are brought out with GIS-based technology and the statistical methods are implemented.Partâ…¤,Research of function orientation to each eco-economic region.The concept of function orientation to eco-economic region is defined,and its basis is proposed.By the analysis of location quotient,the comparatively predominance of resources and industry are estimated.The distribution of those essential ecosystem function regions is summarized.
