Research Of Economic Relations Between Hong Kong And United States

This dissertation mainly probes into the evolution of the economic relations between Hong Kong and the United States as well as the impact of the China factor and the United States factor on the Hong Kong-U.S economic relationship. And these impact and changes include:(1) Hong Kong is a separate customs territory and regional economic entity, and was governed by the United Kingdom for a long-term, therefore, the evolution mode of Hong Kong economy is similar to that of the Western countries.(2) Hong Kong's economy was created and developed on the land of China. Hong Kong, backing on China, was and should be dependent upon China which provides resources and the transit trade. Since the reunification, China's strong support is the key of the rapid development of Hong Kong economy. Therefore, the China factor has always been a decisive factor to the development of Hong Kong's economy and the economic relations between Hong Kong and the United States.(3) Current state of economic relations between Hong Kong and the United States shows that, although neither side can replace the other side's special advantages, the advantages of United States is growing increasingly in asymmetry economic relations between Hong Kong and the United States from the perspectives of trade, investment and other sectors of the economy.(4) China now has a decisive or important influence on Hong Kong in the fields of financial, trade and logistics, tourism, business support services and professional services, and other sectors of the economy. The United States is no longer the country that Hong Kong depends on most, Hong Kong is increasingly depending on the rising China.This dissertation analyses the characteristics of economic relationship between probes into the political and economic influence of China and U.S. on Hong Kong, Hong Kong and the United States with international political economics theory, finally, put forward some proposals on promoting the development of the economic relations between Hong Kong and the United States.The author believes that, Hong Kong will certainly be able to create greater glories again with the care and support of China central government, as long as taking all the advantages, and seizing the tremendous business opportunities brought by the rising China, Hong Kong's tomorrow will be more beautiful!...
