Urbanization promotes the economic and social development,and at the same time brings the pressure of resources,energy and environments.We have to arrange to resolve the contradictions between the urbanization development and resources, energy and environments and to obtain sustainable development.Industries are the basis for modern cities to exist and develop,and the motivity to develop of city.Based on the principles of ecological economics,industrial ecologization applies ecological laws,economic laws and systemic engineering methods to manage traditional industries to achieve maximum social and economics benefits,high efficiency using of resources,minimum environmental pollution and cycled using of castoff.It is necessary to improve the model of industries development and implement industrial ecologization to achieve sustainable development of cities.Accordingly,it is very necessary to study the relationship between urbanization and industrial ecologization, it is important to decrease the negative impacts of urbanization.Banded together with the National Natural Science Fund task" Industrial ecology management model based on resources carrying capacity"(â„–:70773050),this paper put up a study on it.In this paper,on the basis of a systematic summary of research progress at home and abroad,we reveal the inherent laws of the interaction and the evolution mechanism of the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology, establish a set of indicators for quantitative measure that data are easy to get and operation is easy to learn and the coordination criteria,put forward the optimization routes from the general sense,and use of the above results,we conduct applied research taking Foshan as an example,and put forward countermeasures and proposals for Foshan.The main conclusion of the study include:(1) there is interaction between urbanization and industrialization.Urbanization influences and changes industrial ecology through the behavior of urban residents and the requirements of industrial ecology in turn act on the behavior of urban residents.(2) in a certain period of time and under certain technical conditions,subject to resource and environmental constraints,the development of urbanization is limited,follow the law of S-type growth.And through the implementation of industrial ecology,we can increase the carrying capacity of ecological thresholds,and the city system will achieve a new S-shaped curve of growth based on the original S-shaped curve of growth,that's to say,we can achieve the expansion of urbanization through the implementation of industrial ecology.(3) based on the ideas of Synergetics and the principles of scientific, comprehensive,independent,dynamic,we establish an index system for quantitative measurement that data are easy to get and operation is easy to learn and the coordination criteria.(4) We should consider the following three optimization routes to the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology:implementing cleaner production,developing ecological industry,innovating new systems for externality internalization.(5) In the period of the year of 2002 to 2007,Foshan city achieved a more rapid pace of the development in urbanization and industrial ecology and a increasingly high degree of coordination.However,the speed of the pace of development in industrial ecology is lower than that in urbanization.From the perspective of System theory,integrating the knowledge of the subject and theory of Industrial Economics,Industrial Ecology,Urban Economics,Ecological Economics,Urban Ecology,Circular Economics,New Institutional Economics, Self-organization theory,and Game theory,this paper studies the inherent laws of the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology by adopting the approaches of systematical analysis,normative analysis,qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis and static analysis with dynamic analysis,extends the theoretical study of urbanization and deepen the theoretical study of industrial ecology in the theoretical sense,obtaining practical significance in guiding selecting the model of urbanization and industrial development,and help to decision-making that to realize the coordinated development of urbanization and industrial ecology,the coordinated development of society,economy,and nature,ultimately,to achieve circular economy and regional sustainable development.Studies on urbanization are relatively more "old" while on industrial ecology are relatively more "new".It is rare so far to combine the two of urbanization and industrial ecology and study the law of the coupled development between the two from the perspective of System theory.In this paper,the innovation may include:(1) in the theoretical thinking,based on the giant system theory,this paper look the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology as the coordinated development between the two sub-systems of urbanization and industrial ecology in the socio-economic-natuml giant system,analyze the inherent laws of the interaction and the evolution mechanism of the coupled development between the two sub-systems of urbanization and industrial ecology and lay the foundation for the full understanding and grasp the relationship between the two.(2) Based on the intension and the interaction of the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology,this paper build up the PSR(pressure -state - response) framework of the two.(3) The study on the evaluation index system and evaluation model of industrial ecology is to improve the academic system of industrial ecology from the perspective of fundamental method system.It is an inherent need and also has great academic space to the development of the subject,and also has very important guiding significance from the perspective of industrial practice.Based on the ideas of Synergetics and the principles of scientific,comprehensive,independent,dynamic,we establish an index system for quantitative measurement that data are easy to get and operation is easy to learn and the coordination criteria.The index system of the urbanization measure the level of urbanization from the four points of population urbanization,economic urbanization,social urbanization and spatial urbanization,the index system of the industrial ecology measure the level of industrial ecology from the five points of the level of industrialization,the level of the ecological environment, ecological pressure on the environment,ecological resilience,eco-efficiency.This paper established 3 major categories including a total of 7 categories and 21 basic types of the coupled development between urbanization and industrial ecology classification system and criterion to determine the type.
