During the Yuan dynasty, the change of social and cultural background caused the corresponding characteristics on the textile pattern. The topic attracts many scholars’ attention however so far there is still a lack of comprehensive and systematic research. Based on the existing Yuan dynasty textiles, this dissertation will focus the decorative pattern of this period as the research subject, according to the analysis of the characteristics in decorative pattern shape, composition and other image, as well as the meaning expression patterns.This thesis is divided into six chapters.Chapter one is an introduction. Herein significance of the topic are described, and related research status at home and abroad and important research results are presented and reviewed the contents of this paper to study the methods briefly, the scope and concept of the study are defined.The second chapter summarizes the production and consumption of textiles in Yuan Dynasty based on the literature, introducing the categories of textiles in Yuan Dynasty, providing background information for the study of textile patterns in Yuan Dynasty. Chapter three will sort out the known decorative patterns of textile in Yuan Dynasty comprehensively. According to pattern subject, it can be divided into beasts, birds, plants, auxiliary and geometric patterns five categories. The beasts theme is dragons, deer pattern, rabbit texture and Capricorn fish; poultry theme is mainly phoenix, luan-niao(kind of phoenix, a mythical bird), peacocks, waterfowl, griffin, and other bird pattern; the main themes of plant is peonies pattern, lotus pattern, plum pattern, chrysanthemum lines and plants; auxiliary patterns are mainly miscellaneous treasure, cloud patterns, figures, characters; geometric patterns are mainly petty lines, Turtle pattern, Qiu-lu lines and ba-da-yun. After comparative study of similar themes, the main styling feature patterns are classified.Chapter IV summarized the textile pattern composition form in Yuan dynasty, mainly scatter arrangement, frame alignment, parallel pattern, textile coloring four parts. The arrangement of main patterns are concluded which scatter arrangement mainly included parallel-type arrangement, staggered style and symmetrical style three types; into lattice frame, zigzag design, interlaced floral design, parallel design pattern is divided into dorsal four forms for the flower indention, bead indention, cloud shoulder, chest; color features analysis of textile.Chapter Five in-depth analyzes the important decorative patterns with the characteristics of the Yuan Dynasty textiles. Comparing the features of the image of the same subject matter modeling patterns in textiles and other crafts in Yuan Dynasty; textile patterns and characteristics and the Liao, Jin, Western Xia, Song, Ming and other crafts that appear in different periods were comparative in modeling patterns, analyze the characteristic patterns in textiles and explore its historical origins, the emphatically analyzed of dragon and phoenix pattern, ChunShui, QiuShan, ManChiJiao, peony pattern and lotus pattern.Chapter VI of the literature-based, real objects assisted, summarized the cultural factors reflected in the textile patterns of Yuan Dynasty, a better understanding of the cultural background patterns in textiles feature. Mainly from the central Plains culture and foreign culture two factors to analyze, the impacts of cultural factors on the Central Plains textile patterns are mainly from the Yuan Dynasty Song Dynasty culture, Taoist culture and Buddhism. Foreign cultural factors are mainly Western nomadic culture and Asia influencing factors.Above five working respectively corresponding to the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapter, in which the third and fifth chapter is the main part of the thesis, the core content of the paper. The study of this article has the understanding as followed:1.Because the worship from nomadic Tibetan Buddhism, shamanism of snake, Dragon leading the Yuan Dynasty in textiles leads small, slender neck in modeling the characteristics of S shape.2. There are two kinds of shapes of phoenix tail in textiles of Yuan Dynasty, the performance of female and male, respectively, wherein the scroll grass pattern is male, and the number of long root with tooth edge represents the female phoenix. Phoenix beak image originated from the nomadic hunting life, and Tibetan Buddhism, Shamanism effect.3. The textiles named "Spring" of Yuan Dynasty was found popularly in Jin Dynasty,, Liao Dynasty and Yuan patterns, manifestations of spring hunting from nomadic people, theme of hunting the swan, geese;"spring" was popular earlier than the "Man Chi Jiao", start from Southern Song Dynasty."Man Chi Jiao" shows the pair of mandarin ducks and waterfowl of bittern for harmonious performance between husband and wife. Both are in a small pond scene as the carrier organization patterns, the main difference in waterfowl different image and meaning.4. The deer image, rabbit image in Yuan Dynasty are influenced by the Buddhism and Taoism and other different cultural, which "Akiyama" performance nomads autumn hunting scenes, after "Akiyama" theme added pines, rocks, artificial flowers ganoderma elements and more Central Plains culture.
