On a basis of five different rank coal samples in Kailuan coalfield, this paperinvestigated the vitrinite reflectance distribution for single coal and blending coals.Thispaper also exploredoccurrence and distribution of coal maceral (vitrinite and inertinite)of five Kailuan coals in lab and the separation principle of coal maceral. The basiccharacteristics, structure characteristics, technical properties of coal maceralconcentrates with different rank and/or different maceral content were discussed fullyin detail;and the change and appearance pattern of macerals of different rank coalunder different temperatures were also investigated.The possibility of expanding theblending ratio of lower rank coal and effects of organic sulfur on the coking index forKailuan coals were explored.The results show that, crushing to-3mm+float-sinkseparation and pulverizing to-0.5mm+flotation are two effective maceral separationmethods for Kailuan coal; there is close relationship between the characteristicsdifferences of vitrinite-rich and inertinite-rich concentrates for Kailuan coals and coalrank;vitrinite-rich concentrate of lower rank PS coal has larger blending ratio thaninertinite-rich concentrate; compared with QK sample with similar rank and maceralcomposition, FK sample with higher thioether content has greater the coking index.This study provides theoretical evidence for the following coal blending coking andother coal utilizations based on maceral separation technique.
