The theories and application of roadway support of mine are essential in the mining engineering, which have been the kernel topics in Rock Mechanics discipline in the long term. To date, the advanced roadway support design methods are more and more of concern among these topics. The new viewpoints of roadway support of mine are addressed in the thesis, which can be summarized as follows:1) The accurate solution to roadway support of mine is based on the theory that the relevant underground pressure theory is to be selected to support the roadway support design of mine regarding the geological environment;2) The crux of the roadway support design of mine is that the roadways are required to be classified in term of the interaction conditions between surrounding rocks and stent, and in turn, the different design theory can be applied to the different roadway groups.Based on the viewpoints, the roadways in the study area are classified in term of the force condition of the roadways and the features of the surrounding rocks. They are1)the roadways which are controlled by stresses,2) the roadways which are in the charge of the features of surrounding rocks, and3) the roadways which are restricted by displacement. The different design patterns are in turn employed for the design of roadway support in terms of roadway groups.The important roles of reliability analysis on the roadway support design of mine, the optimum engineering design and risk assessment are emphasized in the thesis. A series of relevant topics are further discussed based on the implication of reliability analysis.1. After the fundamental theory of reliability analysis is introduced, the reliability of calculation components is analyzed in the different scenarios ranging from multiple normal distribution variables to non-normal distribution variables;2. A series of factors affecting reliability calculation are discussed. The design service life, safety grade and design reliability index [/?] of roadway support of mine are proposed, which can be utilized in the reliability calculation of roadway support components;3. The mechanics theory on the main forces supported in roadway of mine are analyzed with the introduction of the major design calculation formula;4. The numerical simulation is implemented by RFPA software in the different scenarios including the destruction processes of surrounding rocks self-support, roadway bolt support and shotcrete support;5. The definition of’system’in the reliability engineering is identified based on the condition that the roadway support construction is a multiple element system consisting of many support components. Additionally, the frame figure of reliability is developed as a effective tool for system reliability analysis;6. The methods of roadway support design of Xiao Guanzhuang iron mine are studied, and the methods, formula and results of displacement convergence measure are addressed based on the information from the field investigation about the roadway working status and appearance of ground pressure. The application of resilient tie pad in the ground pressure measure is proposed with the detailed theory basis and practical steps, which is exemplified in the roadway support design of Xiao Guanzhuang iron mine. In this paradigm, the concept that the system attributes of relationships among the support components can be determined by the support time is proposed. Hence, the roadway support system of Xiao Guanzhuang iron mine can be regarded as a parallel connection system combined with first support and second support components, and the formula4.22can be employed for the reliable design of roadway support;7. The mechanics features of dominant mine rocks, which are located in the Shangqing mine area of the Ban Shigou iron mine, are sampled and experimented. Besides, the convergence measure is also implemented in the underground roadway. The calculations of reliability design of support systems in the three roadways in the Shangqing mine area are implemented with the analysis of reliability design. As a result, two patterns of reliability design of the roadway support system are developed. They are1) the equation (3.29) based on the condition that the intention of surrounding rocks is strengthened to the limitation;2) the equation (5.2) based on condition that the roadway is loaded with the maximum burden, both of which provide the simple and feasible methods to the kind roadways;8. The study on the results from chorite quartz and phyllite rocks models and plaster casts is helpful for the conclusion:the average value of Is derived from the individual component of the system can be defined as Is(50) without any modification when the value of n2is approximately equal to that of n3. In addition, the equation6.5and6.6are recommended for the identification of uniaxial compressive strength (Rc) and tensile strength (Rt) of rocks. The theories and application of roadway support of mine have undergone a hard andtortuous development. From the safety factor method, to the engineering experiencemethod, and then to the reliability design method, which have made a great progress.However, from the proposion to the practice of the reliability design method, and thepopularization and application, many problems have to be solved. The author will havefurther hard work, and make contribution with the research results to the development ofthe mining industry...
