Since reform and opening up, with the high-speed development of urbanization and urban space expanding and large-scale population rapid accumulation, residential differentiation phenomenon is more and more obvious;In the process, it is important how to reasonablly adjust residential space for solving residential differentiation and isolation, and to effectively improve and enhance residents’ life quality for constructing social harmony.According to some foreign related research, national census information is obvious limitation of "time-lag" to analyze urban-social sapce structure, real estate development has decided the future of the residents’migration direction, which can quickly explain the changing of housing structure and predict urban residential differentiation structure and trends. This paper focus on the residential space structure of wuhan, and on the base of the mature residential space structure theory and practice research system as follows:Ecological school, neoclassical school, behaviorism, Marxist school, institution school, applicants some theories and method of sapce structure of urban society, such as the Burgess’concentric-zone theory and Hoyt’s sector theory and multiple-nuclear theory, and reviews the development history of urban space and residential space development in wuhan city, from housing supply angles to analysis the residential differentiation, finding out under some factors such as the during of urbanization and the reform of social structure and economic system, resource constraints, urban planning and urban renewal, infrastructure construction during the urban spatial development and diversity of housing supply and demand, residential space structure has some characteristics as follows:first, the residential differentiation layout is circle and multiple sectoral and multiple center; secondly, obviously residential different around riverside or lake; thirdly, seriously residential segregation in central city; fourthly, the tendency of high-low residential distribution and mid-high residential fusion; fifthly, residential differentiation coincide with the social stratum polarization; sixthly, enclosed and high residential neighborhood truck indifference among residents. Though residential has positive advantage to land value and satisfied to differ resident’s diversity demand and eliminate the housing market backlog, residential differentiation result in some disadvantage, such as aggravated residential segregation, increased gray-area and despair landscape areas, these disadvantage will affect the construction of urban-social harmonious environment. After all, this paper gives some measures to solve urban problems includes different income groups residential differentiation and some series of harm to society harmonious.
