ABSTRACT:As an important part of urban passenger transport system, urban rail transit plays a significant role in easing the pressure on urban road traffic and promoting the urban development. Meanwhile, it has brought great convenience to people. With the rapid development of urban rail transit, the operation mileages increase continually, which has a great influence on the resident trip, particularly the resident nearby the rail lines. This thesis studied the relationship between the opening of new rail transit lines and the choice of travel mode on the basis of experience and research results at home and abroad. By proposing generalized cost based NL model, the effects of the opening of new rail transit lines on residents travel mode choice are quantitatively analyzed.Firstly, with an introduction to the development of urban rail transit in some typical cities, the regularity of subway passenger volume development is summarized in this thesis. In addition, according to the characteristics of urban traffic modes and residents’ travel behavior, the impact factors of mode choice are analyzed in detail.Secondly, from four aspects of economic cost, time cost, travel comfort and safety, a detailed analysis of the calculation methods in different part of the cost of the various modes of transportation is provided and generalized cost models are proposed in this thesis. Furthermore, on the basis of Disaggregate Model theory, generalized cost based NL model is proposed. The structure of selection-tree which consists of private car, taxi, bus and rail transit is constructed. Finally, based on a numerical example, the validity of the model is verified. By analyzing the calculation results, the thesis has quantitatively analyzed the effects of opening a new rail transit line on residents travel mode choice. The calculation results reveals that the influence of new rail transit line is most obvious on bus. The proportion of passengers shifts from bus accounts69.5%for total passenger volume of urban rail transit.
